This is a list of all the Mothers Day deals or events in Wichita that I know of right now, but I imagine I’ll be adding to this list, so check back often!
Free Admission for Moms
Treat your mom to a day out with the family next weekend. Here is list of Wichita attractions where moms get in free this Mother’s Day.
Kansas Cosmosphere Just a short drive from Wichita, and well worth it for science-loving moms. Purchase an All Day Mission Pass for $18, which includes the Carey IMAX® Dome Theater, a planetarium show, Dr. Goddard’s Lab and the Hall of Space Museum, and your mom will receive one too, for free.
Tanganyika For a more terrestrial treat, take your mom to Tananyika Wildlife Park. This place is fantastic, with up-close-and-personal experiences with a variety of unusual birds and mammals. Be sure to bring along a camera, as there will be plenty of photo ops to fill Mom’s scrapbook here. The park will open at 9 a.m. on Sunday. Mothers get in free; the family will pay the regular admission rates of $13.95 for adults, $10.95 for seniors, or $8.95 for children 3-11.

Moms & Moscato Spend a bit of me-time at this Towne West Square Mall event, held in the mall’s center court, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 6. An afternoon of wine, pampering, and fun to celebrate Mothers Day in style. FREE Wine tasting courtesy of Grace Hill Winery.
Mother’s Day this year is Sunday, May 14, but some events will be held on Friday and Saturday too.
Mothers Day Events in Wichita
[Friday] Spring Art Fair: Pots and Porsches This event at MarkArts is sure to please both moms and dads. Find a beautiful handmade gift and enjoy looking at some really beautiful Porsches from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. They’ll also have food trucks onsite. Kids can make a Mothers Day project for FREE from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. 9112 E. Central in Wichita, KS 67206
[Friday] Wichita Force vs. Salina Just saw this from the INTRUST Bank Arena email (italics mine): “Show your appreciation to mom by bringing her to the game! All mothers will receive a free ticket to the game. *Tickets for mothers are only valid on Endzone seating and must be purchased in person at the Select-A-Seat Box Office at INTRUST Bank Arena.” The game is at 7:05 p.m. on Friday, May 12.
[Friday and Saturday] The Sunflower Balloon Festival in Anthony, Kansas is going to be held over Mothers Day weekend this year, with a balloon flight (or balloon glow) and fireworks on Friday evening, many activities all day Saturday, and a last flight early Sunday morning. If you choose to go Friday or Saturday, you can spring for a hot air balloon ride for your mom!
[Saturday] Old Town Farm & Art Market A beautiful and fun way to kick off Mothers Day weekend is to enjoy opening day of the Wichita Farm & Art Market in Old Town. They usually have live performances, free kids’ activities, and of course fresh, beautiful produce, flowers, and handmade goods.
[Saturday] Wichita Sedgwick County Historical Museum Start celebrating a day early at Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum’s Ice Cream Social. The fun, games, and ice cream will be on Saturday, May 9, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is only $2 for this fun annual event, and it’s a great lead-up to Mother’s Day. [Saturday] Clifton Square Open House Tastings Enjoy tastings of wine, beer, or soda at the shops in Clifton Square, along with Mothers Day discounts at participating vendors. They’ll be throwing this shindig from 5-8 p.m. at 3700 E. Douglas. See the link for more details.
[Saturday and Sunday] Wichita Art Museum Annual Art and Book Fair The Friends of the Wichita Art Museum will once again hold its annual Art and Book Fair at the museum on Mothers Day weekend. Admission is free! If Mom is a book or art lover, be sure to plan some quality time at this free festival of food, fun, and fine arts. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Wichita Art Museum, 1400 W. Museum Blvd. in Wichita.
[Sunday] Sedgwick County Zoo Mom will get in free with a paying child at the Sedgwick County Zoo from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mothers Day, Sunday, May 14, 2017. Along with all the regular exhibits, you’ll get to see the new zoo babies and their moms! (Sweet!) Regular admission applies for everyone else, which is $15.95 for adults, $11.95 for seniors, and $11.95 for kids 3-11. [Sunday] Tanganyika Wildlife Park All moms get in free with a paid child (or adult, for that matter) admission on Sunday, May 14. Tanganyika is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. this time of year, so you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the interactive wildlife experiences with your mom. For an additional fee, you can purchase “experiences” like riding a camel or feeding the giraffes, which are really fun for kids!
[Sunday] Kansas Aviation Museum Mothers Day & Picnic Under the Wings Bring along a picnic lunch and make it a special day for mom by spreading out a blanket under the wing of an airplane. [Sunday] Botanica Mothers Day In addition to giving her flowers, give her the whole garden. Moms get in free at Botanica on Sunday, May 14. This is a beautiful time of year to see the gardens, which are open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mothers Day. 701 Amidon Street, Wichita, KS 67203, (316) 264-0448
[Sunday] Bartlett Arboretum Celebrate Wine, Women, and Songs with mom on Mothers Day, May 14, at the Bartlett Arboretum in Belle Plain. Freshly dug bulbs for all moms. Gates open at 3 p.m. Admission is $10.
[Sunday] All Star Sports and All Star Adventures Mothers Day special: Moms play a FREE round of mini-golf with each paying player on Sunday, May 14. All Star Adventures (east Wichita) and All Star Sports(west Wichita) Nothing says I love you like taking mom out for a game of mini-golf. On Sunday, May 13, moms play free with a paying player.
[Sunday] Museum of World Treasures On Sunday, May 10, bring your mummy to one of the most fascinating museums in town. Mothers get free admission with a paying child at the Museum of World Treasures from noon to 5 p.m. on Mothers Day. 835 E. 1st St. N., Wichita, KS 67202, (316) 263-1311
Lake Afton Public Observatory Show her you love her to the stars and back. Moms get in free on Friday and Saturday night (grandmas too!) at Lake Afton Observatory when accompanied by a paying child. There’s a limit of one free admission per paying child. Regular admission is $6 for adults, $4 for children ages 6-12, and $18 for a whole family pass. The program, Big, Bigger, Biggest, about the relative size of objects in the universe, is from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. The Observatory is at MacArthur Road (39th Street South) and 247th Street West in Lake Afton County Park. Concert in the Vineyard Enjoy a concert in the Grace Hill vineyard with Seattle folk singer Jill Cohn. Admission is only $10 per carload. Wine, music, and food available for purchase from Strada (the Luciano’s of Mulvane food truck) sounds like the makings of a wonderful evening. The concert begins at 6 p.m. If the weather is not great, they’ll hold it inside their event center.

Starbucks Happy Hour Treat your mom to a half-price Frappuccino from 3-6 p.m. every afternoon between May 5-14, 2017. Your mom will be proud of you for saving so much money!
