Well, moms aren’t getting in to Botanica free this Mothers Day. Although Botanica is charging admission for moms this year, it’s still discounted.
Bring Mom to the gardens on Sunday, May 12, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and she’ll get $5 admission. Other guests will pay regular admission prices, which have gone up this year.
$9 adults
$8 seniors/military
$6 youth
Free for ages 2 and under
The gardens will be open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. that day.
This is a really good time of year to visit Botanica, when many of the flowers are in bloom and the weather is usually just right – not too hot and not too cold.
Throughout the gardens there are a few places to stop and rest, or you can make your way back to the patio and find tables and chairs.
This year they’ll have LEGO sculptures on display from the Sean Kenney’s Nature Connects exhibition. I haven’t seen them yet personally, but they look pretty impressive in the pictures.
Again this year, moms (and everyone) can enjoy an adult beverage while strolling through the gardens.
Also, the Wichita Asian Association will be back to celebrate Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month in the Chinese Garden Terrace with cultural performances, cooking demonstrations, and free tasting of Asian food and tea.
Here are some other events planned:
- Local artist market
- Lamphouse Photo Booth
- Prairie Daylily Club Show
- Wichita Iris and Suburban Club sale
- Lunch from the garden cafe or the Lolo’s Crepes food truck
If you’re looking for the perfect Mothers Day gift, consider a Botanica membership; it’s something she can enjoy year-round.
