RiverFlix: Free Outdoor Movies at Exploration Place 2026

Riverflix at Exploration Place is a free outdoor movie series in Wichita. It will be held in the Exploration Place amphitheater right outside its downtown location, near the iconic Keeper of the Plains. The best part is that Riverflix is FREE. This outdoor event will be held in the Wichita Foundation Amphitheater, where everyone is welcome to watch under the stars.

Exploration Place announced it would host FREE Movies this year from April to October, excluding September 25 due to the Drone Festival, for 25 weeks of completely free Friday night fun for all ages.

This is the perfect way to spend quality time with loved ones without spending a dime! I can just imagine my family sitting on a blanket by the Arkansas River, with the Keeper of the Plains in the background, enjoying a family-friendly film.

Exploration Place is Wichita’s Science and Discovery Center, one of our city’s biggest attractions, with the new Destination Playground.

When is RiverFlix at Exploration Place? April 24 – October 30, 2026
Seating at Riverflix Outdoor Movie:
- You will be sitting on turf in the theater, so I recommend bringing a blanket or cushion.
- There will be very limited space around the amphitheater bowl for lawn chairs, so you may not be able to set up your chair if you bring it. If you want a lawn chair, I will go early.
Will there be Food at RiverFlix?
- Yes, you can purchase food from local food trucks, or you are welcome to bring your own food and drinks, which I absolutely love!
  - Bringing your food is a fantastic way to keep the cost of a family night out low. A free movie and the convenience of enjoying the food you already have—there’s no better or more affordable way to have a fun night out!   - Alcohol is not permitted.
When does RiveFlix start?
- Food truck and seating start at 6:00 pm each Friday night.
- Movies will begin at sunset.
