Exploration Place has a new amphitheater right outside its downtown Wichita location, near the iconic Keeper of the Plains. The best part is they are hosting a FREE Movie series called RiverFlix. The outdoor theater hosts the FREE films under the stars at the Wichita Foundation Amphitheater.
This is the perfect way to spend quality time with loved ones without spending a dime! I can just imagine my family sitting on a blanket by the Arkansas River, with the Keeper of the Plains in the background, enjoying a family-friendly film.
Exploration Place is Wichitas Science and Discovery Center, one of our city’s biggest attractions.
What You Need to Know About Exploration Place Outdoor Movies:
- Seating
- You will be sitting on turf in the theater, so I recommend bringing a blanket or cushion.
- There will be very limited space around the amphitheater bowl for lawn chairs, so you may not be able to set up your chair if you bring it. If you want a lawn chair, I will go early.
- Gates open at 6:30.
- You’re welcome to bring your own food and drinks, which we absolutely love!

- Alcohol is not permitted.
- Food trucks will be available starting at 6:30 pm
- Movies will begin around 7:30 pm
- No registration is needed.
