Riverflix at Exploration Place is a free outdoor movie series in Wichita. It will be held in the Exploration Place amphitheater right outside its downtown location, near the iconic Keeper of the Plains. The best part is that Riverflix is FREE. This outdoor event will be held in the Wichita Foundation Amphitheater, where everyone is welcome to watch under the stars.
HUGE NEWS for 2025! Exploration Place announced they would be hosting 25 FREE Movies this year. From April 18 to October 17, 2025, excluding July 4 and October 3rd due to the Drone Festival, that is 25 weeks of completely free Friday night fun for all ages.
This is the perfect way to spend quality time with loved ones without spending a dime! I can just imagine my family sitting on a blanket by the Arkansas River, with the Keeper of the Plains in the background, enjoying a family-friendly film.
Exploration Place is Wichitas Science and Discovery Center, one of our city’s biggest attractions.

- When is RiverFlix at Exploration Place? April 18 – October 17
- Seating at Riverflix Outdoor Movie:
- You will be sitting on turf in the theater, so I recommend bringing a blanket or cushion.
- There will be very limited space around the amphitheater bowl for lawn chairs, so you may not be able to set up your chair if you bring it. If you want a lawn chair, I will go early.
- Will there be Food at RiverFlix?
- Yes, you can purchase food from local food trucks, or you are welcome to bring your own food and drinks, which I absolutely love!
- Bringing your food is a fantastic way to keep the cost of a family night out low. A free movie and the convenience of enjoying the food you already have—there’s no better or more affordable way to have a fun night out!
