Sedgwick County Park:
Is one of the largest parks in Wichita. It has a boundless playground that offers space for everyone regardless of physical mobility. The Scottish Festival and Great Pains Renaissance Festival are also put on in this park. You can fish but you are required to have a fishing license. FREE to enjoy!

Redbud Trail
This is an 11.5-mile-long trail in Wichita and its always FREE. It takes an average of 3 hours and 30 min to complete. It’s a trail that takes you through residential areas, churches, and parks. The trail is paved for the first 6 miles in Wichita, while much of the rest is surfaced with gravel or crushed limestone. FREE to enjoy!

Swanson Park Loop
Is 1.2 miles long and takes about 22 minutes to complete (on average). This is considered an easy route. This trail is great for running and walking. Swanson Park is 93 acres. FREE to enjoy!

Pawnee Prairie Nature Park
Over 400 acres of natural parkland with 5 informational Kiosks to help with the paths. The signage was installed to help track your distance, share your location, and share the park rules. FREE to enjoy!

Is about 51.38 acres with one Nature Trail that’s 1.46 miles. FREE to enjoy!

Great Plains Nature Center
This is one of my personal favorites and it’s FREE to the public (inside and outside). They have an indoor facility and a Park! FREE to enjoy! Did you know that Great Plains Nature Center partners with the Kansas Wildlife Exhibit in Riverside which is also always FREE Click HERE for more info

Chisholm Creek Park
The Great Plains Nature Center park is called Chisholm Creek Park

- It has 282 acres with a trail that’s about 2.7 miles of paved trails that cross native and restored prairies, wetlands, ponds, and woodlands. One of the largest parks in Wichita. They do not allow dogs or bikes because it is a Naturel Kansas Habitat and they don’t want any interruption with the wildlife. They love dogs but the wildlife doesn’t and to keep it natural they are not allowed, sorry.

- Island Pond – Artificial lures only, all fish caught must be released. There is no fishing allowed on bridges or other wetland areas of Chisholm Creek Park.
- Chisholm Lake –Located on the north side of K-96. Please observe posted regulations. (Not on the Great Plains property but close)

Chisholm Creek Park is home to at least:

Indoor Great Plains Nature Center
It’s completely FREE to go through the museum! They also have Nature Education for kids of all ages, including adults. These programs for also FREE. Visit their website for more information. In the museum, you can see the 2,200-gallon aquarium filled with fish life, or learn about the sounds native animals make. You can learn about the history of the prairies, wildlife and plant life.

Oak Park Trail
Is about 37.5 acres and has a trail that’s about 1 mile long. naturally wooded area and the landscape treatment makes it a delightful place of natural beauty. FREE to enjoy!
