Wichita Historical Museum is one of my favorite museums, and it is now FREE on Sundays in 2026!
The Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum is now even more affordable with free Sunday admission, thanks to a gift from the Ruth Spooner Stone Charitable Trust. However, if you can’t make it on a Sunday, don’t worry – keep scrolling to see other ways to visit, including free or discounted options.
Visiting a museum for FREE is like getting a double treat; you get to indulge your curiosity without denting your wallet. It’s a fantastic way to explore and learn without any financial barriers. Plus, it’s a guilt-free way to spend your day. You can absorb knowledge, appreciate creativity, and maybe even discover a new passion, all without spending a dime.

Regular admission to the museum is just $5 for adults and $2 for children, so really any visit will be easy on your wallet. It’s open six days a week.
On Sundays, you can visit between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. with free admission.
This is the clock tower building on Main Street downtown, just across the street from the old library and Century II.
The Wichita Sedgwick County Historical Museum is a treasure trove of local history located in Wichita, Kansas. Housed in the original Wichita City Hall, built in 1892, the museum showcases the region’s rich history through a diverse collection of artifacts, photographs, and exhibits.
You’ll find fascinating displays covering a wide range of topics, from the Native American presence in the area to Wichita’s development as a major aviation hub. The museum also delves into the city’s role in the cattle trade, the oil industry, and its cultural and social evolution over the years.
It’s a great place to explore if you’re interested in a deeper understanding of Wichita and Sedgwick County’s local history and the people who have shaped them.
Street parking is also free on weekends!
