If we learned anything over the last few years, it’s that you don’t need a long list of events. You can still celebrate Mom and all she’s done for you, and it doesn’t have to be super expensive.
When is Mother’s Day 2026? This year, Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 10, 2026.
We have some ideas based on what’s available here in the Wichita area. We finally have confirmed free admission deals (yay!). Other ideas might include a Mother’s Day brunch to go, a beautiful vase of spring tulips, and a heartfelt greeting card or note.

Things to Do with Mom on Mother’s Day in Wichita
- Get a Wichita Explore Card and save $2 on admission to many Wichita area Attractions.
- Bramble Cafe, at Elderslie Farm, will be newly open for the summer season.
- Take Mom on a Bike Ride on one of the many trails. Not much is cheaper or more relaxing than biking outside.
- Visit Karg Art Glass and shop for one-of-a-kind blown glass art or watch the artists at work.
- Take Mom to the Exploration Place ParkRun, which takes place every Saturday and is free.
- Enjoy a FREE Yoga Class at Exploration Place every Saturday in the outdoor amphitheater.
- Sunday Funday Deal at Top Golf.
- Check out the Self-Service Kayak Rentals in Wichita.
- On Saturday, you can go with your mom to one of the many Farmer’s Markets in Wichita. FREE to walk around.
- Go to O.J. Watson Park and take a train ride, go kayaking, pony rides, play miniature golf, and more.

Mother’s Day Gift Ideas
Fuel Points Dillons has a huge selection of gift cards available and – almost always in time for Mothers Day – you can load a coupon onto your card that will get you 4 times the fuel points on a gift card purchase. So, for example, a $50 gift card gets you 200 fuel points, which is worth 20 cents off per gallon on one fill-up. If your mom is frugal like me, the gift card is nice but the fuel points are awesome! Ha ha.
Give the Gift of Time If the mom you’re celebrating has young kids, giving her the gift of time is likely to be treasured. That could mean watching the kids for a few hours or maybe she just wants to spend the time with you! Give her the choice and make it happen.
Clean the House What a great gift this would be! Some moms wouldn’t appreciate you doing this and would consider it an affront, so proceed with caution. But you can clean MY house all day long and I would be thrilled. (Actually, let me revise that: if you live in my house, you have my wholehearted support in cleaning it. 🙂 )
Fresh bouquet or live plant. Many stores have special Mother’s Day items available for sale now. Aldi often has very affordable fresh flower bouquets throughout the season. Trader Joe’s is another good choice for fresh cut flowers, and they’ve got a handy how-to video for making a Fancy Schmancy Bouquet. Or you can pick up a pot of blooming flowers, a cool succulent planter, an easy-to-grow houseplant, or other kinds of live plant at almost any local garden center or farmers markets right now.
Give Her Something Classy. Give mom a copy of the newest Evolve Wichita Activity Guide and let her choose a class or activity. There’s something for every interest, and it’s very affordable.
Go ‘Junking’ With Her. If Mom likes antiques or unique treasures, consider giving her an IOU for the Wichita Flea Market, which is being held the weekend after Mother’s Day. You can do some thrifty shopping together at the flea market’s 200+ vendor booths.
Free Trees Mom is a big deal so if you’re going with plants why not go all out for some threes. The Arbor Day Foundation offers 10 FREE trees with a donation and completion of a survey.

Tulip bulbs from Botanica Still waiting for 2026 updates: It’s hard to predict how long they’ll last, but the annual Botanica tulip bulb sale is on now, every Friday morning until they sell out. Bulbs are just 15 cents. Of course, they’re not blooming so add these beauties to a basket of gardening gifts for Mom.
