Enjoy a leisurely guided stroll among the wildflowers at Great Plains Nature Center.
On these guided wildflower walks along the Cottonwood Trail, participants will learn how to identify flowers. They will also observe how the prairie changes throughout the course of peak wildflower season.
The Wildflower Walks will be held on the 4th Saturday of the month starting May 25 through August 24 at 9 a.m. The Cottonwood Trail is 1.7 miles long and the walks should last about 1.5 hours, but attendees are welcome to leave early.
Don’t forget to bring sunscreen, close toed walking shoes, a hat, insect repellent and a camera or phone for taking pictures. Part of this walk is off the path so dress accordingly. The tour will meet in the Great Plains Nature Center lobby.
Since this is an outdoor event, check the official Facebook event page for possible changes or cancellations before leaving home if the weather looks iffy.

Hi, the narrative says the walks are held on the 4th Saturdays. The calendar shows the 4th Fridays. Probably the 4th Fridays? Thanks
Oh – I’m sorry. I better double-check and then I’ll make sure it’s correct in both places! Thanks for asking… sometimes my brain doesn’t keep up with my typing fingers!
Looks like it really is 4th Saturdays. I double-checked it on the GPNC Facebook event (link in the post above). Sorry about the mixup – and again, thanks for saying something so we can correct it!
