Halloween falls on a Saturday in 2020. That’s great news, although Halloween seems to last all month here in Wichita. You’ll find family-friendly Halloween activities throughout Halloween week and on the weekend too. You’re going to be so busy filling up your bag with treats you’ll need an assistant to help you carry it all.

Please note: I’ve done my best to provide accurate information, but *do* click on the blue links to go directly to the source in case anything changes. Some of these events do charge a modest admission fee, although many are free.

Ongoing Halloween Activities
- Stay up late on a Monday (or Saturday) night and send shivers down your spine at Scary Movie Mondays and Saturdays at the Drive-In.
- Fridays and Saturdays from 7 pm to 10 pm there is Zombie Paintball, a Haunted Barn, and a 5 acre maze at Klausmeyer Pumpkin Patch.
- Fridays and Saturdays in October: Cox Farm Fall Festival. 10 am to 7pm. Cox Farm, 6059 S Seneca St, Wichita, KS (opens September 25)
- NEW this year! Halloween Laser Spooktacular Laser Light Show in the Boeing Dome Theater at Exploration Place, Friday, Oct. 16 – Saturday, Oct. 31 Mash with monsters and enjoy floating laser caricatures and animations of legendary Halloween personalities. The show features classic Halloween music such as Monster Mash, Ghostbusters, and Purple People Eater.
- Dinosaurs After Dark at Field Station Dinosaurs. Every 10 minutes – beginning at 7:10 pm and ending at 8:30 pm – guests will be led on a darkened trail tour and encounter some of the most recognizable movie monsters of all time, all while trying to find the source of paranormal activity happening at the Field Station. Opens October 2, available on Fridays and Saturdays.
- Trick-or-treating in College Hill is discouraged this year, but what is available is driving through the neighborhood before October 31 to check out the awesome decorations!
Family-Friendly Wichita Halloween Events
October 10 & 11: Eastside Marketplace will host a Pumpkin Fest Trunk-or-Treat this year. 10 am – 6 pm. 2265 S Greenwich Rd, Wichita, KS
October 10: Beginning Saturday, Oct. 10, families can visit Lowes.com/DIY to reserve a spot for Lowe’s Halloween experience (Oct. 22 and 29) at their local store, where they can drive up to receive candy and a small pumpkin at no cost to take home. October 16: Barks and Boos is a pup fest that’s free! Bring your dog to Pawfit in Delano – in a costume, if you like – for some yummy treats for dogs and humans. 6-9 p.m. at 230 N. Walnut.
October 16 & 17: Ghouls night in with the Girl Scouts. Camp out in your backyard or living room and complete fun crafts, or spooky snacks, and take a behind the scenes virtual look at the haunted stroll. $25 per family. For more information and registration, check out the event on their website.
October 17: Halloween Hullabaloo in Derby. Grab the kids…AND the Dog(s), dress up, and drive through for some Halloween treats. The streets will be decorated too! Chuck and Don’s is providing bagged treats for the furry critters and the DRC along with Walmart and Pepsi are giving out individual bags of candy for the humans. Enter off of Madison street and drive on through to Bulldog Drive. This event is FREE, from 10 am- 11:30 am. For more information.
October 17: Enjoy a spooky stroll in your car with the Girl Scouts Haunted Stroll. Stay in your car and drive through scare scenes and creepy decor while enjoying a provided snack and a delightfully terror-ific craft to take home with you. Open from 10 am to 6 pm. Located at Starwoods Outdoor Center, 7800 S 103rd St W, Clearwater, KS. $10 a person. For more information check out the event on their website.
October 24: Halloween Spooktacular at Chicken N Pickle. Head on over to Chicken N Pickle for activities from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be pre-filled Trick or Treat bag giveaway, pumpkin decorating, and a kids costume contest! From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. there will be an opportunity to give to Heartspring. Chicken N Pickle, 1240 N Greenwich Rd, Wichita, KS.
October 24: Enjoy trick-or-treating from your car this year with OJ Watson Park’s Drive Boo Trick-or-Treat event.
October 24: The Wichita Flea Market will have a form of trick-or-treating from booth to booth. Admission $3
October 24: Enjoy watching the movie Hocus Pocus for FREE at Capitol Federal Amphitheater in Andover! Make sure to bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and snacks!
October 24 & 25: Boo at the Zoo from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Kids, wear your costumes to the zoo for some candy, and zoo animals. Regular zoo admission ($12-$16) applies; FREE for zoo members.
October 24 & 25: Bring the kids to Old Cowtown Museum for Coffins & Cobwebs (The Halloween event at Cowtown used to be called Hay, Hooves, and Halloween!) They’ll get to trick-or-treat in a fun and safe environment, and you’ll get discounted admission of just $5 for all ages! Cowtown members and children 4 and younger will get in FREE.
October 25: The Wichita Flea Market will have a form of trick-or-treating from booth to booth. Admission $3
October 25: Drive Thru Trunk-or-Treat at Wichita South YMCA. Enjoy this FREE event on Sunday October 25. Pile in the car and head to the South YMCA for a drive thru trunk-or-treat. October 30: FREE game of mini-golf for kids in costume after 5 p.m. at All Star. More info
October 30: FREE Little Aviators program at Kansas Aviation Museum. Costumes encouraged! Ages 1-5.
October 30: Maize Recreation Center will host a drive-thru trick-ot-treat in the parking lot of the rec center from 6:30-8:30pm. Decorate your vehicle, wear your costumes or come as you are. They will be handing out full-size candy for those who drive from near and far (*kids only). Pre-Register by October 19th for $5/carload. After 10/19 it’s $10/carload. Register here. October 30: Kids Halloween at Museum of World Treasures from 6-9 p.m. The museum will be open late and the first floor will be transformed with spooky, family-friendly displays for kids of all ages. Regular admission rates apply; completely free for MOWT members.
October 30: Get ready to be fired up with Phlox! Phlox will perform their famous fire dancing and fire-breathing in Old Town Square. Phlox will start performing at 8pm and end around 10pm. Old Town Square is at 2nd & Mead.
October 30: Enjoy safe spooky fun at this Trunk or Treat! The Coop and Coffee House will have decorated trunks from local businesses and our bakers handing out candy, live music, fresh made crepes, and of course their usual tasty festive baked treats and specialty beverages. Trunk or Treat from 3 pm to 7 pm at The Coop and Coffee House, 104 N Baltimore Ave, Derby, KS. No admission charge. For more information check out their Facebook event.
Oct. 30: Wichita Police Department will host a Trunk-or-Treat in Clapp Memorial Park! The trunk-or-treat will be available from 5 pm to 8 pm. Clapp Memorial Park, 4611 E Harry St. For more info.
Oct. 30: Valley Center drive-through Trick or Treat Street & photo booth from 5-7 p.m. Enter at 2nd & Park Street in Valley Center. Everyone will stay in their vehicles. More information on their Facebook event page.
Oct. 30 Candy Rush at Central Community Church from 6-8 p.m. in the parking lot at 6100 W. Maple St., Wichita, KS 67209. A drive-through pumpkin patch experience; collect candy and other goodies from a series of fun stations. Please remain in your vehicles at all times. More info

Oct. 31: Pumpkin Smash Pickleball Contest. Register by October 30 to participate in the pumpkin smash pickleball contest at Chicken N Pickle. You and one other person can enter dressed up as your favorite duo (Batman and Robin, etc.) Registration is $25 per team of two. Register here. Or just enjoy watching from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Chicken N Pickle, 1240 N Greenwich Rd, Wichita, KS.
Oct. 31: Trunk-or-Treat at 81 Speedway. Drivers participating in the Mel Hambelton Ford Modified Spooktacular and their cars will be ready for trunk-or-treating at 4 pm in the VIP pavilion area. Drivers (whether racing or not) are encouraged to bring candy, memorabilia, and hero cards to the event! And parents you haven’t been forgotten about you either. Remember that if you get in the Halloween spirit and wear your costume, you’ll save $5 off your grandstand admission ticket price! 81 Speedway, 7700 N Broadway, Park City, KS. For more info.
Oct. 31: This Halloween join the Newton Lions Club & Newton Recreation Commission for a safe Halloween event for your children. This year the 26th Annual Halloween Walk will be a Halloween RIDE on Trick-or-Treat Street! Starting at 6 pm participants will drive the park circle at Athletic Park, stopping at local business booths to Trick-or-Treat from the comfort of your family vehicle. Families are encouraged to decorate their cars for this event. For more information check out their Facebook event!
October 31: Safe Treat Night in Mulvane from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Trick or Treat at downtown Mulvane businesses. Free.
October 31: Cedar Creek Hootenanny Trick-or-Treat with family friendly trick-or-treat stations set up throughout the patch. Admission is $5 per person.
October 31: Dog-O-Ween at Grace Hill Winery. There will be an outside bar, live music, and a food truck for what should be a 4 Paw experience! At 2pm there will be a doggy costume contest (free for anyone to enter on the day of the event) and the winner will go home (or straight to the tasting room) with a $75 Grace Hill Winery gift certificate! October 31: It’s “Malloween” at the Westlink shopping center! Bring the whole family, dressed in costumes. From 1 pm to 3 pm participating retailers will have candy and treats to hand out to the trick-or-treaters. Westlink Shopping Center, 8903 W Central Ave, Wichita, KS. October 31: Halloween at the Rink. From Noon until 6 pm head out to Wichita Ice Center for a fun time ice skating and trick or treating. Admission is $5 per person and skate rental is $3. October 31: Trick or Treat drive-through at Kansas Humane Society from 2-4 p.m. at 3313 N. Hillside in Wichita. Get the kids dressed up in their costumes and drive through the KHS parking lot stopping at candy stations along the way. The treats are for young humans this time, rather than for the pets. Please remain in the car for this event.
October 31: Drive Thru Trunk or Treat at West Side Nazarene Church. Enter by turning East off of Seneca onto Haskill to the drive way on Walnut. There will be decorated trunks to enjoy and each child in the car will receive a baggie of candy at the end of the path. All participants will be wearing masks. From 2:30-4:00pm. This event is FREE! Halloween Lights and Haunted Displays in Wichita
Lights on Oceio 6726 W. Ocieo St. Fun Halloween music, fog, props, and light show, runs nightly October 1-November 1, 2020 from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Lights on David 409 N. David St. Spooky Halloween lights, props, and sound effects. Begins at dark; continues until 9 p.m. on weekdays; until 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. For more information check out the Lights on David website.
