The Candy Crawl at Planeview Park (which used to be at Clapp Park) is a family favorite. This free, family-friendly event encourages everyone to dress up, grab a candy bag or bucket, and visit park and recreation staff, local businesses, and organizations for candy and prizes.
This free, Family-Friendly Halloween Event takes place on October 17, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Little ghouls and goblins are invited to dress up in their boo-tiful costumes, bring a candy bag or pumpkin bucket, and follow the haunted trail through the park to collect sweets and prizes from Wichita Park & Recreation staff, local businesses, and community organizations.

The one-way route will keep things flowing like a ghostly parade, with DJ KJ Entertainment spinning monster mash-ups to keep the energy alive.
What makes this such a great Wichita event is that it’s not just about candy, it’s about community. Families can enjoy a safe, festive evening without spending a dime, while kids soak up the Halloween magic in a welcoming and playful setting. It’s also a great chance to connect with local organizations and businesses that support Wichita families year-round.
As a Wichita mom, I love events like this because they make holiday celebrations affordable and fun. My daughters always look forward to picking out their costumes and seeing the other kids’ creative outfits along the trail. It feels like a big neighborhood Halloween party where the whole city is invited, and the fact that it’s free makes it even sweeter.
If your business or organization is interested in having a vendor booth at the event, don’t hesitate to contact Kaye Sears at ksears@wichita.gov for more information.
