When I think of Halloween displays the first thing I think of is the College Hill neighborhood. It has been a family favorite for years. All over the neighborhood are houses that take Halloween decorating to the extreme.
Some of the houses wait until Halloween Eve to put out their displays but a lot of houses decorate all month long.
On October 31st a lot of the streets are blocked off around parts of College Hill and Wichita Police Officers are there to make sure everyone remains safe.
One of our favorite houses to visit is at 401 N. Roosevelt St. We asked the homeowner why do they spend the time and money to put on this incredible display? Their response was “When you grow up in College Hill, the spirit of Halloween becomes apart of you. You can’t imagine your house without lights and decorations and 1000s of trick or treaters roaming the streets on a crisp fall night. It’s like growing up on a movie set! I decorate our house to keep the tradition of this amazing neighborhood alive. Most importantly, I do it to honor my mother who always put her magical touch on this holiday and neighborhood.” – Alexis Phillips
Another one of our favorite displays is the UFO. The homeowners had this acrylic dome made in California.
