Looking for free Halloween light displays, spooky decorated houses, and Halloween decorations in Wichita, Kansas? I’ve put together a list of Wichita neighborhoods, over-the-top Halloween houses, and light shows that families can enjoy without paying admission.
One of my favorite Halloween traditions is visiting College Hill in Wichita. The neighborhood is known for its incredible Halloween decorations, and some homeowners go all out with pumpkins, skeletons, lights, and spooky displays. It’s one of those simple family outings that can be completely FREE!
I also love finding houses around Wichita that put on Halloween light shows synchronized to music. Some families spend countless hours decorating their homes for everyone else to enjoy, and I think that’s pretty special.
I’ve included some longtime favorites and displays recommended by Wichita on the Cheap readers. Since these are privately owned homes, we haven’t confirmed every address for Halloween this year. Some families decorate all month, others wait until Halloween night, and some displays change or take a year off.
College Hill Halloween Decorations in Wichita
If you’ve never visited College Hill during Halloween, I highly recommend it!
This historic Wichita neighborhood is known for its Halloween spirit. Homeowners decorate their porches, yards, and beautiful old houses, making it a fun place to walk around and enjoy the season.
Where is College Hill? The neighborhood is generally between Central Avenue, Douglas Avenue, Hillside Street, and Oliver Street.
Some of the best decorations are around Broadview Avenue, Roosevelt Street, and Belmont Avenue.
My tip: Some College Hill homeowners wait until Halloween night to put out their biggest displays, while others decorate throughout October. If you visit earlier in the month, you may not see everything.
One of My Favorite College Hill Halloween Houses
Location: 401 N. Roosevelt St., Wichita
This has been one of our family’s favorite Halloween houses to visit!
I once asked homeowner Alexis Phillips why she spends so much time and effort creating such an incredible display. Her answer has always stuck with me.
She explained that growing up in College Hill made Halloween part of who she is. For her, decorating is about keeping the neighborhood’s Halloween tradition alive and honoring her mother, who helped make the holiday so magical.
I love that! It’s a reminder that these displays are about more than decorations. They’re about family memories and community traditions.

Porches & Pumpkins: College Hill Evening Walk 2026
Bike Walk Wichita is hosting Porches & Pumpkins, an evening walk through College Hill to enjoy glowing pumpkins, decorated porches, and Halloween displays.
Instead of driving around looking at decorations, you can join other Wichita families and neighbors for a festive fall walk.
Costumes are encouraged, and you can bring a flashlight.
Date: Wednesday, October 28, 2026
Time: 5:30–6:30 p.m.
Meeting Location: Parking lot across from Blessed Sacrament Church, near Douglas Avenue and N. Crestway Avenue, Wichita

I love this idea because it’s such a simple way to get outside, enjoy the neighborhood, and celebrate Halloween without needing an expensive ticket.

One of My Favorite Free Displays
One of the most iconic Halloween houses in Wichita’s College Hill neighborhood is the Pumpkin House, near 2nd Street and Broadview Avenue. This house is known for its incredible display of glowing, hand-carved jack-o’-lanterns!
What makes this house so special is how the pumpkins are stacked along the elevated yard and retaining walls, creating a beautiful wall of glowing orange pumpkins. Instead of scary decorations, it’s all about that classic Halloween look, and I love it!
My tip: This is one of those Halloween displays that’s especially fun to see after dark when all the pumpkins are glowing.
The UFO Halloween House in East borough
Free UFO Display
Location: 14 N. St. James Pl., Eastborough, KS
Another one of our favorite Halloween displays over the years has been the UFO!
The homeowners had an acrylic dome specially made in California. The display was previously in College Hill before moving to Eastborough.
It’s one of those creative decorations that really stands out from the typical Halloween skeletons and pumpkins.
Halloween Light Display to Drive By in Wichita
If your family enjoys Christmas light displays, you’ll probably love the Halloween versions, too!
Some Wichita homeowners create elaborate Halloween light shows with music, singing pumpkins, and spooky decorations. It’s a fun way to enjoy Halloween from your car.
These displays were featured in previous years. I’m keeping them on the list while checking their 2026 status.
Maize Halloween Drive-Through Display
This one isn’t free, but it looks pretty cool.
