In Germany, throngs of people will pack the beer halls and streets of Munich to celebrate Oktoberfest from late September through the first week of October. But don’t worry, you won’t have to travel that far to eat brats, dance the polka, hoist your beer steins and celebrate all things German. There are many opportunities to celebrate Oktoberfest right here in Wichita this year!

Haus of Brews, is celebrating their 11th anniversary Saturday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. For three hours, attendees will be able to sample craft brews from seven local breweries. Guests can also sample wine, enjoy a food buffet, live jazz music and desserts. This event is hosted by the Rotary Club and 100% of the proceeds go back to the community through the Rotary Club’s service projects. Tickets are $40 per person. Eins, Zwei, Drei, G’Suffa! (One, Two, Three, Drink!) Join the merriment of Loftoberfest hosted by River City Brewing Company on Sunday, September 22, 2019 from noon to 5 p.m. There will be turkey legs, sausage boards and Bavarian style pretzels. They will also be tapping two beers for this event:
1) Festbier – the lighter, most commonly served beer at Oktoberfest
2) Marzen – the darker, maltier cousin of the festbier that was traditionally served
These two beers (plus their Altbier and Kolsch) will be available with their .5 Liter stein for only $12.00. This also includes $3.00 refills of each of these beers anytime you come in until they run out!

Prost will be hosting their first annual Oktoberfest! This all ages event is sure to be fun for the whole family. The staff will be dressed in traditional German attire. There will be yard games, costume contests, live polka music, a stein hoisting competition and more! During the three day event, they will be serving German brats, pretzels and fries. Admission is FREE except those who will be drinking beer are required to purchase a $5 wristband. During this event, beers can be enjoyed in the Revolutsia courtyard, in the Prost restaurant and on their deck. Ze German Markt as well as other stores in Revolutsia will be open during this event with Oktoberfest inspired items for sale. Blessed Sacrament Oktoberfest Celebration, will host a full day of Oktoberfest events starting with their annual Run for the Poor. Registration ends September 27 at 6 p.m.) All runners will receive a brat and beer (for those 21 and older) at the finish line. There will be water bottles and hot dogs for younger runners and those who prefer water instead of beer. There will also be live music, inflatables and rides for the kids throughout the day along with German beer and food of course! Public at the Brickyard, will be celebrating their 4th annual Oktoberfest in the Courtyard from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday. They will be serving German inspired foods and there will be live music from Keen Kutter. For $25, guests will get a .5 liter Public beer stein and three tickets for any of their selected German-style drafts. Guests can also purchase beers individually and get in to the event for free. Stafford, KS Oktoberfest, While this festival is not in Wichita, it looks like it would be worth the drive. The town of Stafford, KS will be hosting their 30th annual Oktoberfest. The festivities include a parade, polka band, beer garden, inflatables, a pumpkin car race, an ax throwing competition, a car show and more! See the link above for a list of event times.

They also fly in authentic German nuremburger sausages, kraut and hot and sweet mustards and serve them with hot German potatoes. They will also be serving sauerbraten, which is a German pot roast and for an appetizer, they will have pretzels with bier cheese.
