Scare yourself silly this month with several classic (and new) horror movie screenings at various theatres around Wichita. Below is a list of Halloween-themed or scary movies and films that are guaranteed to keep you up at night.

2024 Scary Movie Screenings

Starlite Drive-In Article

The scary movies start early this year – as early as August! Starlite Drive In will show Alien Romulus on Screen 2 August 16, 17, and 18. It will be part of the Alien/Deadpool double feature. (Alien shows first at 8:35 p.m.)

Tickets are $10.75 for adults. You don’t want to bring kids to this one.

Augusta Historic Theatre

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is coming to the historic Augusta Theatre on Saturday, October 19, 2024. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. The movie won’t begin until 10 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person and will include a bag of props for the first 50 tickets sold.

On the Augusta Arts Council Facebook page, they say, “Dress up as your favorite character or come as you are, and we’ll have the red lipstick ready!”

Movies in the Park Article

The last of a series of FREE movies at CapFed Amphitheater is just perfect for a Halloween movie night out with the fam if you have older tweens or teens. On Sunday, October 20, 2024, they’ll show Haunted Mansion, rated PG-13.

The movie starts at 6 p.m. Admission is FREE!

The Orpheum Theatre

Yikes! The Orpheum Theatre in Wichita will show an extra scary movie this year. They’ll play The Amityville Horror on Thursday, October 17, 2024.

This is apparently the 45th anniversary of the movie. (Has it really been that long?) Here’s the description: “Newlyweds and their three children move into a large house where a mass murder was committed. They start to experience strange, inexplicable manifestations which have strong effects on everyone living in or visiting the house.”

The movie starts at 7 p.m. and tickets are only $8.

Leif Jonker is planning another year of Wichita’s Horrorfest. Texas Chainsaw Massacre will play, he affirms, on a big screen somewhere in Wichita this October 2024 for its 50th anniversary. Stay tuned to his Facebook group, Wichita Big Screen, to find out when and where!

Regal Cinemas now has a page of its website dedicated to horror movies it’s showing now so you can watch thrillers whenever the mood strikes you. They have some playing now, and this national movie theater chain often has discounted scary movies when Halloween time approaches.

Bradley Fair Outdoor Movie

Bradley Fair hosts Family Fall Fridays every Friday in October. Friday, October 18th, is their outdoor movie night from 6 – 8:30 pm. They will be playing the animated version of The Addams Family. It’s $5 per child, and adults are FREE.

Similarly AMC Theater also has an AMC Thrills and Chills page on its website so you can see what scary movies are playing at any given time.

Mosley Street Melodrama

It’s not a movie, but this ought to be good. Mosley Street Melodrama will perform Halloween the 13th: Michael vs. Jason from September 13 through October 26, 2024. Tickets start at $27 for the show only but you can add on dinner for an additional fee.
