Doing some spring cleaning? Or planning some home renovation? Here’s a cheap tip that could save you some $$ on getting or getting rid of paint and other hazardous waste.
Chemicals like paint or household cleaners and other hazardous materials shouldn’t be thrown in the trash. Instead, take them to the Sedgwick County Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 801 Stillwell, Wichita, KS 67213. It’s free of charge.
Here’s something that’s even cooler than free disposal: There’s a Swap & Shop at the main facility where you can take home free paint, fertilizer, or other usable things that were left by someone else.
This is kind of a cool thing to discover this time of year, as we look ahead toward spring cleaning. Re-using, recycling, and reducing the toxic stuff in our landfills is just part of being good stewards of our environment.
To get more information, including the types of materials they’ll accept, see the Sedgwick County Hazardous Waste Facility webpage.
