Free Firewood Is Back! Sedgwick County Zoo, Westar Energy and the City of Wichita have teamed up to give away firewood and mulch this winter.
The free firewood and mulch is provided from Westar Energy’s ReliabiliTree tree trimming program and the City of Wichita’s forestry tree pruning and removal operations.
You can pick up the free firewood – and free wood chips to use as mulch – in the north parking lot of Sedgwick County Zoo daily 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. through February 2018.
Note: Chainsaws, splitters, or any mechanical equipment should not be used. For questions about wood delivery, call 1-855-937-8275.

Unfortunately I have not found this service to be reliable. They do not deliver daily as advertised & there is no way to know the days they definitely will come. If you desperately need fire wood, don’t count on this service. You’ll be disappointed.
