Each Memorial Day, the Blue Star Museums program opens again for the summer. Blue Star Museums offers free admission to more than 2000 museums across America for active-duty military personnel and their families, including National Guard and Reserve, from Memorial Day through Labor Day. It’s a military discount that will keep the whole family entertained on the cheap.
NOTE: Although the Blue Star Museum program has been canceled for 2020, the Wichita Art Museum honors military personnel and their families with free admission through Labor Day.
Note: The Blue Star Museum program has been canceled for 2020, “out of an abundance of caution as it relates to the changing realities of how communities across the nation are experiencing and handling” the current health concern. The announcement was made on the National Endowment for the Arts website here. The program is expected to go on in the summer of 2021.
There are usually several participating Wichita museums each year. This can also be a great way to enjoy museums when you go on vacation. These are the museums that participated in and near Wichita in previous years. More may be added, so be sure to check the link below to see a complete list of participating museums throughout the summer.
