If you shop at Dillons in Wichita, Kansas, there are some money-saving tricks you might be missing! Between the Dillons Plus Card, digital coupons, weekly deals, and fuel points, you can save quite a bit if you know how to use them together.
I’m always looking for practical ways to stretch our family’s grocery budget, and Dillons has some great opportunities to save. But here’s the thing: Just scanning your Plus Card doesn’t automatically get you every deal.
This article takes a deep dive into my favorite Dillons money-saving tricks, from digital coupons to fuel points. For even more ways to save, check out my Ultimate Guide to Saving Money on Groceries, where I share grocery shopping tips, my Cook Once, Eat Twice trick, and 30 cheap family meals!

Some discounts require you to clip a digital coupon first. Others depend on how many items you buy. And those fuel points you’ve been collecting? You can now use them toward groceries, too!
I’m breaking down how it all works, with real examples and simple tricks you can use on your next Dillons shopping trip.
Start With a FREE Dillons Plus Card to Unlock Grocery Savings
If you shop at Dillons without using a Plus Card, you’re probably missing out on discounts.
The Dillons Plus Card, also called a Shopper’s Card or Rewards Card, is free and gives you access to loyalty prices, fuel points, and special offers.
You can get a card at Dillons or create an account through Dillons.com.
How to Get and Use Your Dillons Plus Card
- Create a free Dillons account online or ask about a Shopper’s Card in-store.
- Link your existing Plus Card to your online account if you already have one.
- Add an Alternate ID, such as your phone number, to make checkout easier.
- Scan your card or enter your Alternate ID every time you shop.
- Use that same account to clip digital coupons and track rewards.
My tip: You don’t need to carry the physical card everywhere. An Alternate ID linked to your account makes it easier to get your discounts.
And if you already have a Plus Card but have never created an online account, that’s the first thing I’d do. You’re missing some of the best savings!
How to Use Dillons Digital Coupons: Step-by-Step
This is probably the biggest money-saving trick I want Dillons shoppers to understand.
Have you ever seen a great price on a shelf tag, only to notice the words “With Digital Coupon” underneath?
That means scanning your Plus Card alone isn’t enough. You need to clip the coupon to your account.
The good news is that you don’t need scissors, a printer, or a stack of paper coupons!
How to Clip Dillons Digital Coupons
- Go to the Dillons Digital Coupons page or open the Dillons app.
- Sign in to the account linked to your Plus Card.
- Browse the available coupons or search for a product you need.
- Tap or click Clip on the coupons you want.
- Shop for the qualifying products, checking the brand, size, and quantity.
- Scan your Plus Card or enter your Alternate ID at checkout.
- Check your receipt to make sure the discounts applied.
That’s it! The coupons you’ve clipped should apply automatically when your purchase meets the offer requirements.

Click on “Clip” to Get your Digital Coupon
My Favorite Digital Coupon Trick
I like the idea of clipping coupons before leaving home, but here’s another trick: If you see a digital coupon price while shopping, open the app and clip it before checkout.
Just make sure you’re signed in to the correct account.
For example, imagine a box of cereal is regularly $4.49, but Dillons has a digital coupon bringing it down to $2.49.
That’s a $2 savings on one box! If the offer allows you to buy multiple boxes at that price, the savings can add up quickly.
Prices in this example are illustrative, not a current Dillons promotion.
One more thing: Dillons has a limit on how many digital coupons you can have clipped at once, so I focus on products my family actually buys rather than clipping everything.
What If You Don’t Have a Smartphone?
Here’s something I think more shoppers should know!
According to Dillons’ coupon policy, Shopper’s Card holders without a digital account can ask an associate at the customer service desk about receiving digital-coupon pricing.
That can be helpful for shoppers who don’t use apps or aren’t comfortable clipping coupons online.

Wednesday Is a Great Day to Check New Dillons Grocery Deals
If you like planning your grocery shopping around sales, put Wednesday on your calendar!
Dillons’ weekly digital deals refresh on Wednesdays, making it a great day to see what’s new.
Before shopping, I recommend checking three things:
Here’s how I’d use them: Start with the meat and produce specials, then look for digital coupons on groceries you already need.
If chicken is on sale, plan a couple of dinners around it. If cereal, cheese, or frozen vegetables have a great digital deal, compare the price and decide whether it’s worth stocking up.
My tip: Check the ad before making your meal plan, not after. It’s much easier to save money when you’re planning dinners around what’s on sale.
Look for Dillons 5-Times Digital Coupons
This is one of my favorite Dillons deals to explain because it can be confusing at first.
Some Dillons digital promotions let you use the same coupon on up to five qualifying items in a single transaction.
For example, let’s say a digital coupon saves you $1 on a box of crackers.
If the promotion allows five uses and you buy five qualifying boxes, you could save $5.
But here’s the important part: You don’t necessarily have to buy five! With qualifying 5-times offers, you can buy just one item and still receive that item’s discounted price.
How to Make the Most of 5-Times Coupons
- Clip the coupon before checkout.
- Check the exact brand, size, and quantity.
- Buy only as many as your family will use.
- Compare the final price with store brands.
- Check whether the offer can be used again on a later shopping trip.
Dillons sometimes runs special 5-times coupon events, so read each offer’s terms. Not every digital coupon works this way.
My tip: These promotions are especially useful for groceries that last a while, like pasta, cereal, frozen vegetables, and household essentials.
How Dillons Fuel Points Work — and How Much You Can Save
I love a grocery deal that also helps lower the cost of gas!
Dillons has a rewards program that lets you earn points on qualifying purchases.
For most grocery purchases, you earn one point for every $1 spent.
You can then use those points for fuel discounts at participating locations.
How Much Are Dillons Points Worth at the Pump?
| Points | Discount Per Gallon | Savings on 15 Gallons |
|---|---|---|
| 100 | 10¢ | $1.50 |
| 200 | 20¢ | $3 |
| 500 | 50¢ | $7.50 |
| 1,000 | $1 | $15 |
Fuel redemptions are generally limited to up to $1 per gallon and 35 gallons per transaction, although location restrictions may apply.
How to Redeem Dillons Points for Gas
- Visit a participating Dillons or Kroger-family fuel center.
- Enter your Alternate ID or scan your Rewards Card.
- Select the available points you’d like to redeem.
- Choose your fuel grade and fill up.
You can check your points balance in the Dillons app, online, or on your receipt.
My Favorite Fuel Points Trick: Watch for Bonus Points
Dillons occasionally offers promotions that let you earn extra points on qualifying purchases.
You might see bonus-point coupons, special shopping days, or gift card promotions.
Before making a larger purchase, check whether a bonus-points offer is available.
For example, qualifying gift cards generally earn two points per dollar. If you’re already planning to buy a gift card as a birthday present, you may be able to earn points on a purchase you were making anyway.
Just don’t buy gift cards you don’t need simply to collect points.
Don’t Let Your Dillons Points Expire!
This is important!
Points generally expire at the end of the month following the month you earned them.
For example, points earned in October expire at the end of November.
My tip: Check your points balance before the end of each month. Don’t let money-saving rewards disappear because you forgot about them!
NEW: Use Your Dillons Points to Save on Groceries, Not Just Gas
Here’s a money-saving update that some Dillons shoppers may not know about!
You can now redeem your rewards points for money off groceries instead of using them for fuel.
The exchange is simple:
- 100 points = $1 off groceries
- 500 points = $5 off groceries
- 1,000 points = $10 off groceries
You can redeem up to 1,000 points, or $10, per day for eligible grocery purchases.
To use this option, sign in to your Dillons digital account, choose to redeem points for groceries, and follow the prompts before checkout.
Should You Use Your Points for Gas or Groceries?
It depends on how much gas you’re buying!
For example, 500 points could give you:
- $5 off groceries, or
- 50 cents off per gallon of gas.
If you’re filling a 15-gallon tank, the fuel discount could save $7.50.
But if you only need five gallons, the same fuel discount would save $2.50, making the grocery reward more valuable.
My tip: Do the math before redeeming. You don’t have to use every point for gas just because that’s how you’ve always done it!
Look for Dillons Mega Events and Buy-5 Promotions
You’ve probably seen signs at Dillons advertising deals like “Buy 5, Save $1 Each.”
These promotions can be great, but the rules matter.
A typical example might work like this:
- Buy five participating products.
- Save $1 on each qualifying item.
- Save $5 total.
The participating products don’t necessarily have to be five of the same item. Depending on the promotion, you may be able to mix and match eligible products.
But be careful: Some promotions require you to meet a specific item count to get the advertised discount.
My trick is to count the qualifying items in my cart before heading to checkout.
I also compare the final sale price with the regular price of Dillons store brands.
Buying something you don’t need just to reach five items can wipe out your savings!
Check Dillons Personalized Coupons and Offers
Here’s another reason to use your digital account regularly.
Dillons can provide personalized coupons and offers based on your shopping history and account activity.
That means the coupons available to you may be different from what someone else sees.
I recommend checking for discounts on the groceries you buy over and over, such as milk, eggs, cereal, snacks, and household products.
You can also use your digital account to view items you frequently purchase that are currently on sale.
My tip: Before a big grocery trip, search for the products on your list. You might find a coupon you would never have noticed by scrolling through all the available offers.
Don’t Overlook Dillons Manager’s Specials and Clearance Deals
I always think it’s worth checking for markdown stickers before paying full price.
At Dillons, you may find discounted meat, bakery products, dairy items, produce, and seasonal merchandise.
These discounts are often marked as Manager’s Specials or closeout deals.
Where to Look for Dillons Markdowns
- Meat department: Packages approaching their sell-by dates
- Bakery: Bread, rolls, and desserts marked down for quick sale
- Dairy: Yogurt, cheese, and other items with approaching dates
- Produce: Reduced-price fruits and vegetables
- Seasonal aisles: Holiday merchandise after the season ends
When Does Dillons Mark Down Meat?
I wish there were one guaranteed answer for every Wichita Dillons!
Markdown schedules can vary by location, department, and inventory.
Early mornings are worth trying, but my favorite trick is to ask an employee in the meat department:
“When do you usually put out your discounted meat?”
If you find a great price, check the package date and either cook it promptly or freeze it.
And don’t forget to compare the discounted price per pound. A markdown sticker doesn’t automatically mean it’s the best deal.
Check Dillons Cash Back Offers for Extra Savings
Digital coupons aren’t the only offers worth checking.
Dillons also has a Cash Back Offers program, which is separate from regular digital coupons.
When eligible offers are available, you can load them to your Shopper’s Card, purchase qualifying products, and earn cash back.
Here’s how it works:
- Sign in to your Dillons digital account.
- Find the Cash Back Offers section.
- Load an offer to your card.
- Buy the qualifying product.
- Once the reward becomes available, redeem it to your Shopper’s Card or eligible PayPal account.
You can then use rewards transferred to your Shopper’s Card toward eligible future purchases.
One important detail: Dillons says Cash Back Offers and digital coupons generally cannot be combined on the same item.
My tip: Compare the two offers and choose whichever saves you more.
This program is described by Dillons as a pilot, so availability and terms can change.
Dillons Verified Savings: Extra Discounts for Eligible Shoppers
This is a program I think more Wichita families should know about.
Dillons offers a Verified Savings program for eligible customers receiving government assistance, including SNAP, WIC, Medicaid, and other qualifying programs.
Once verified, shoppers can access additional offers beyond their regular loyalty-card savings.
How to Apply for Dillons Verified Savings
- Visit the Dillons Verified Savings page.
- Sign in or create a Dillons account.
- Review the eligibility requirements.
- Complete the secure verification process.
- Explore the additional discounts available to your account.
Dillons uses a third-party verification provider, SheerID, to confirm eligibility.
My tip: If you qualify, don’t assume your regular Plus Card automatically activates these extra savings. Complete the verification process so you can see what’s available.
Compare Dillons Pickup and Delivery Deals Before Shopping
Sometimes grocery pickup can actually help you stick to a budget.
When you’re shopping online, you can see your estimated total before placing the order. That makes it easier to remove unnecessary items instead of discovering you’ve overspent at checkout.
Dillons also occasionally offers special coupons for pickup or delivery orders.
Before ordering, check for current promotions and compare any pickup or delivery fees.
My tip: If ordering online keeps you from adding $20 worth of impulse purchases, it might be worth considering. But always factor in fees, substitutions, and any differences in available offers.
Don’t Assume a Dillons Sale Is Always the Cheapest Price
I love finding a good grocery deal, but the lowest advertised price isn’t always the best value.
Before stocking up, ask yourself:
- Is this cheaper than the store-brand version?
- Do I need to buy multiple items to get the discount?
- Will my family actually use everything?
- Is the unit price lower?
- Could I get it for less at Aldi or Walmart?
For example, a name-brand cereal marked down from $5 to $3 might look like a fantastic deal.
But if a comparable store-brand cereal costs $2.29, the store brand could still be the better choice.
The goal isn’t to collect the most coupons. It’s to spend less on groceries you actually need.
My 10-Minute Dillons Savings Routine Before Grocery Shopping
You don’t have to spend an hour couponing to save money at Dillons.
Here’s the simple routine I’d recommend:
- Check Wednesday’s weekly ad for the best meat, produce, and pantry deals.
- Open the Dillons app and clip digital coupons for items on your list.
- Look for 5-times offers on products your family regularly uses.
- Check personalized coupons for additional discounts.
- Review your points balance and decide whether to save on gas or groceries.
- Look for Manager’s Specials when you get to the store.
- Check your receipt before leaving to make sure your coupons applied.
That’s it!
Even saving $10 a week adds up to $520 over a year.

My Favorite Dillons Money-Saving Advice
If you’re only using your Dillons Plus Card to get the regular sale prices, you’re probably leaving savings on the table.
Start with the digital coupons. Then learn how the weekly deals work and pay attention to your points.
You don’t need to use every promotion or spend hours comparing prices. Just knowing which discounts require an extra step can make a difference.
And remember, a deal is only a deal if it’s something your family will actually use!
My goal is always to help Wichita families keep more money in their pockets while still enjoying the things they love. A few smart grocery-shopping habits can go a long way!
