Sharing is caring!
Aldi, is my go-to grocery store in Wichita. The store is known as the first discount grocer in the world. With over 2,000 stores across the US, they are the third largest grocer. There are limited options, which makes for a quicker shopping experience. Most brands are equal to or better than the nationwide brands and are usually always cheaper.
Shopping at Aldi can be a unique experience, and there are several tips that can help you make the most of your visit and save money.
What You Need to Know When Shopping at Aldi:
- Bring a Quarter: Aldi uses a quarter deposit system for shopping carts. You’ll need a quarter to unlock a cart, but you’ll get it back when you return the cart.
- Bring Your Own Bags: Aldi charges for bags, so it’s a good idea to bring your own reusable bags. You can also purchase bags at the store.
- Check the Weekly Specials: Aldi offers weekly specials on various products. Check their weekly ad or website to see what’s on sale before you go.
- Wednesday is the Best Day for Deals. Go early on Wednesday for the best deals. You can find meats up to 50% off, but go early because they sell out. They stock the home goods aisle on Tuesday and do markdowns on Tuesday, so to find the best deals and new inventory, go on Wednesday.
- Follow @theamazingaldi on Instagram. FUN FACT: She is from Wichita and is a huge influencer for Aldi. She always has the latest deals.
- Be Open to Store Brands: Aldi primarily carries its own private-label brands, and they often provide good quality at lower prices. Be open to trying Aldi’s brands for a more budget-friendly shopping experience.
- Watch for “Aldi Finds”: Aldi regularly introduces new and seasonal items as “Aldi Finds.” These are limited-time products, and you might discover unique or specialty items at a great price.
- Mind the Aisles: Aldi stores are designed to be efficient, with a limited number of aisles. Take the time to explore each aisle carefully, as the layout may be different from traditional grocery stores.
- Bring a Cooler: If you’re planning to buy perishable items, especially if you have a longer drive home, consider bringing a cooler to keep your groceries fresh.
- Check the Expiration Dates: Since Aldi doesn’t restock as frequently as other stores, it’s a good idea to check the expiration dates on products to ensure freshness.
- Look for “Double Guarantee”: Aldi offers a “Double Guarantee” policy. If you’re not satisfied with a product, they will replace it and refund your money, but only at participating stores. I have heard that some of our Wichita stores do not honor this.
- Be Prepared for Limited Selection: Aldi carries a more limited selection of products compared to traditional grocery stores. While this can save you time, be aware that not every brand or product may be available.
- Pay Attention to Prices: Aldi is known for its competitive prices, but it’s still wise to check the unit prices to ensure you get the best deal.
- Shop Early or Late: If you prefer a less crowded shopping experience, consider going to Aldi early in the morning or late in the evening.
Remember that Aldi’s inventory can vary, and these tips may be subject to change based on your location and the specific policies of your local Aldi store.
