The Wichita Veterans Day parade is over the weekend, but the annual ceremony at Wichita Veterans Memorial Park to celebrate and honor U.S. military veterans veterans is happening on Veterans Day.
Veterans Memorial Park of Wichita will conduct its annual Veterans Day Program at the Park this Monday, November 11, 2024 at 11 a.m.
The program will include the flag lined walkway, a guest speaker, presentation of colors by McConnell AFB Color Guard, playing of the National Anthem and Taps, a Rifle Salute and the recognition of all Veterans present and their Branch of Service.
Veterans Day at the Park will be held at 11 a.m. on November 11 at Wichita Veterans Memorial Park.
The event will take place at the Flag Pavilion at the south end of the Park. Colors will be presented by the McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard as a Bugler plays the National Anthem.
This will be followed by the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance and an invocation. After a few brief remarks by the Master of Ceremonies, guest speaker Charles Eaton will reflect on the significance of this day that honors all U.S. Veterans. Charles is an Army Veteran who retired as a Chief Warrant Officer (CW4) after 35 years on Active Duty.
A closing prayer will then be offered, followed by a 3-volley rifle salute and the sounding of Taps.
The program is expected to last 30 to 45 minutes. You will want to bring a lawn chair if anyone in your party has trouble standing for long periods of time, as these events usually have limited or no seating provided.
Wichita Veterans Memorial Park is located on the river and there is a small parking lot nearby. Additional parking is usually available right along 2nd Street during events like these.
It will be a great opportunity to honor the veterans in our lives. For more information about this Veterans Day event, visit www.WichitaVeteransMemorialPark.com .
