Field Station: Dinosaurs is back this year with some spooky Halloween fun for the family. Its Dinosaurs After Dark event is scheduled for four nights in October.

Visitors are treated to a spooky, yet not scary, tour of 10 acres of dinosaurs with a spectral glow. Go at your own pace as you move among 40 true-to-size dinosaurs, uncovering spooky activity along the way.

Included with your Dinosaurs After Dark admission is a Frito Chili Pie or Chili Dog and a drink, a spooky twist on “Dirt & Worms” dessert, and goodies at multiple Trick-or-Treat locations you’ll encounter on your dark journey.

Dinosaurs After Dark is back October 17, 18, 24, and 25 for another year of spooky family fun! This unique Halloween event transforms the Field Station: Dinosaurs in Derby into a glowing, after-dark adventure where visitors can explore trails, play games, and trick-or-treat alongside life-sized dinosaurs. Costumes are strongly encouraged.

What to Expect

  • Spooky, Not Scary Trail
    Wander through 10 acres of glowing trails at your own pace, surrounded by over 40 life-size dinosaurs that come alive with a spectral glow.
  • Food & Treats
    Warm up with fall favorites like Frito Chili Pie or a Chili Dog with a drink, plus a Boneyard Treat that puts a spooky twist on “dirt & worms.”
  • Family Activities
    • Raptor Maze with “out of this world” guests
    • Paleo Playground with Jurassic Bouncers and themed yard games
    • Fossil Dig Site to uncover maiasaura, triceratops, and hidden keepsakes
    • Jurassic Golf with 18 holes of mini golf fun
    • Trick-or-treat stations with candy and non-food treats hosted by the Skeleton Crew
