The Tallgrass Film Festival in Wichita has been called one of the best “under-the-radar film festivals in America” and an “undiscovered gem” by national media. Filmmakers from around the world participate. This year’s festival is in downtown Wichita, October 15-18, 2026.
This “stubbornly independent” film festival showcases films you might not otherwise see in theaters. Over four days in venues around Wichita, the Tallgrass Film Festival features over a hundred films from numerous countries. It also includes appearances by guest filmmakers, free educational events, parties, awards, and more.
The festival ranges from music docs and environmental and social justice films to comedy, sci-fi, and late-night films. There is something for everyone. They are a Top 50 Film Festival Worth the Entry Fee and ranked among the Top 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World in 2023. – How cool is that?
