The Tallgrass Film Festival in Wichita has been called one of the best “under-the-radar film festivals in America” and an “undiscovered gem” by national media. Filmmakers from around the world participate.
This year’s festival is October 17-21, 2018.
This “stubbornly independent” film festival showcases films that you might not otherwise see in theaters. Featuring over a hundred films from numerous countries over five days in venues around Wichita, the Tallgrass Film Festival includes appearances by guest filmmakers, free educational events, parties, awards, and more.
For the complete Tallgrass Film Fest experience, you’ll want the VIP TALLpass ($250). TALLpass holders get admission to all general admission screenings along with other significant first-class perks.
But the Tallgrass Film Festival also has many free or very budget-friendly options for those of us who can’t devote four days to films.
One terrific deal for those who want an immersive but budget-friendly festival experience is the Saturday Binge Pass: For just $65, Binge Pass holders have access to the full festival experience on Saturday – 25 daytime films, a filmmaker happy hour in the VIP Lounge, admission to the evening’s Stubbornly Independent Gala + after-party, and a special midnight movie screening. It’s an easy way to make a day of it and get a feeling for what VIP access to the festival feels like.
There are also a limited number of Ditch Friday passes available for $25, but those might go quickly! And you have to be willing to take Friday off from work to spend the day watching films. 😉
Any of the pass options are a great value for anyone who wants the full immersive VIP film festival experience. Here were some Tallgrass Film Festival discounts and free events we saw in 2017:
- Thursday Oct 19 – all films are FREE to active/veteran military with ID.
- Friday Oct 20 – all films at the Kansas Leadership Center and the Public Library are FREE to the public, admission is first come/first serve.
- There are also FREE educational events and discounted admission rates for a variety of programming for students, teachers, seniors and military personnel throughout the festival.
Thanks to the Tallgrass Film Festival for this information!
