The Tallgrass Film Festival in Wichita has been called one of the best “under-the-radar film festivals in America” and an “undiscovered gem” by national media. Filmmakers from around the world participate.
This year’s festival is October 16-20, 2019.
This “stubbornly independent” film festival showcases films that you might not otherwise see in theaters. Featuring over a hundred films from numerous countries over five days in venues around Wichita, the Tallgrass Film Festival includes appearances by guest filmmakers, free educational events, parties, awards, and more.
For the complete Tallgrass Film Fest experience, you’ll want the VIP TALLpass ($225). TALLpass holders get admission to all general admission screenings along with other significant first-class perks.
But the Tallgrass Film Festival also has many free or very budget-friendly options for those of us who can’t devote four days to films. See them here.
Any of the pass options are a great value for anyone who wants the full immersive VIP film festival experience. But there are also free events during the Tallgrass Film Festival, including:
Free Military Day – Friday, October 18, all films are free of charge for active military and veterans with ID
Free Friday Films – All films starting before 5 p.m. on Friday, October 18 at the Kansas Leadership Center are free to the public.
Free Educational Events – Filmmaker Roundtables and educational sessions in the Classroom at the Lux are free to the public. (Seating is first-come, first-served.)
