Happy (almost) 2019, Wichita! Wow – our great city has a wide variety of options for you this New Year’s Eve! We are seeing everything from dinosaurs and bowling, cowboy dinners and live western music, disco and roller skating, alt rock, chicken & pickles, soul food, fireworks, balloon drops, fancy fancy nights out or a great big pajama party.
Here are some of the best New Years Eve events in Wichita, from budget-friendly to lavish nights on the town.
We’ve put the events into three different sections below: family-friendly New Year, events for grown-ups, and NYE hotel parties.

Family-Friendly New Years Eve Events
ALT 107.3 End of Year Bash, featuring Abandon Kansas
Friday, Dec 28, 5:00 PM – 11:30 PM CST
(This is an all-ages event that might be more enjoyable for teens than for the littles.) Friday night, Dec. 28, celebrate New Year’s Eve a few days early with live alternative rock music and food trucks at Wave, 650 E. 2nd St. See Me Like Bees, Old News, Faintheart (band members are from various parts of Kansas), and Wichita natives Abandon Kansas. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. with an art show, Abandon Kansas performs an acoustic set at 6:00 p.m., and the show starts at 7:00 p.m. Tickets purchased in advance are $10 or 4 tickets for $30, or pay $15 the day of the show.
Noon Year’s Eve Skate and Play OR Public Skating at Carousel Skating Rink
Dec. 31 Noon Year’s Eve skate: 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m
Dec. 31 Public Skate: 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.
Jan. 1 Public Skate: 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.
Carousel Skating Rink is a local favorite, and earlier this year, they opened a brand new Play Zone that is now Wichita’s largest indoor play place. Noon Year’s Eve is just for kids ages 10 and younger, and includes skating, skate rental, Play Zone, a balloon drop, and hundreds of prizes. Tickets are $11.99. Note that, unlike public skating sessions, even non-participating adults must have a ticket to this event ($4.99). They anticipate this event will sell out, so you are encouraged to buy tickets in advance rather than waiting to purchase at the door.
Carousel will have also public skating sessions on both Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Separate tickets are required for the public skate, even if you attended Noon Year’s Eve. Ticket costs for public sessions are $6 for skating admission, $6 for Play Zone admission or $10 to skate & play, plus $2 skate rental. Carousel is located at 312 N. West St.
A Family New Year’s Eve at Field Station: Dinosaurs
Dec. 31, 1:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Starting at 1:00 pm, there will be a celebration of New Year’s and a kid-appropriate toast every hour, on the hour (including noisemakers and party hats!), as midnight moves across Europe, Africa and South America. Enjoy the dinosaurs, and a family friendly New Year’s celebration with dinosaur themed crafts, hands-on activities and games featuring a dinosaur from every time zone. A day pass ticket is $10. The dino park is at 2999 N Rock Rd., Derby.
New Years Eve Party – Chicken n Pickle
Monday, Dec. 31, 4-8 p.m.
It’s the newest fun place in town. Wichita’s brand new Chicken n Pickle restaurant/pickleball place is throwing a dilly of a New Year’s Eve party for people all ages! Best of all, it’s FREE. (Food and beverage will be available for purchase.) They’ll have a DJ, Pickleball (of course!), and more games. For the kids, they’ll have a bounce house, face painter, and goody bags. and includes a bounce house, face painter, DJ, Pickleball, and games. Wichita’s Chicken n Pickle is located at 1240 N. Prairie Rose New Year’s Eve Chuckwagon Supper and Dance
Dec. 31, gates open at 5:00 p.m., ring in the New Year at 10:00 p.m.
Enjoy western hospitality and family entertainment, as you celebrate New Year’s Eve at the Prairie Rose Ranch 15 Minutes NE of Wichita, at 15231 SW Parallel St, Benton. If you arrive when gates open before the show, you’ll have time to enjoy a cowboy movie and a horse-drawn wagon ride, tour the Hopalong Cassidy Museum, warm up in the Opera House by the large stone fireplace, and browse the Prairie Rose Mercantile.
The all-you-can-eat chuckwagon supper is at 6:30 p.m. The evening’s program will start with an opening set by the Prairie Rose Rangers. Then get ready to hit the dance floor and enjoy the music of Rusty Rierson & the Forever Young Band. It will be an early night as you ring in the New Year at 10:00! Tickets are $45 per person. New Year’s Eve Fireworks at Botanica
Dec. 31, Illuminations 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m., fireworks 8:00 p.m.
Send the year out with a bang! Tour the beautiful grounds of Botanica, dressed up with a million lights for the holiday season, and end the evening (and this year’s Illuminations display) with a fireworks celebration. The fireworks are included with an Illuminations general admission ticket and will only take place on New Year’s Eve. Regular admission to Illuminations is $10 for adults, $7 for members, military, and youth ages 3-12.
New Year’s Eve at The Alley
Dec. 31, 9:30 p.m. – 12:30 a.m.
Book your own lane at the Alley and bowl in the New Year with up to 6 people per lane. The price includes unlimited bowling, Go Karts, Laser Maze, Hologate virtual reality, a $5 arcade game card for each guest, as well as pizza, soda and party favors. The total cost is $140 per lane, so with 6 people, that’s just over $23 per person. Reservations must be made in advance – and at the time of publishing, there were only 11 spots left, so hurry and grab this if you’re interested!
Grown-up New Year’s Eve Parties
NYE 2019 at the Loony Bin Comedy Club
Dec. 31, 6:45 p.m. Age 21+ Ring in the new year with comedian Kristin Key at the Loony Bin Comedy Club. You can choose the show-only for $15, or get the whole NYE party for $30 which includes the show, party favors, snacks and a champagne toast.
Dress2Impress New Year’s Eve Dance Party
Dec. 31, 8:00 p.m. –12:30 a.m.
Creators of the Not-so-normal-formal, a prom alternative for middle and high school students, are hosting a clean, alcohol free and still incredibly fun New Year’s Eve party for 19-29 year olds at the Wichita Performing Arts Center, 9112 East Central Ave. Get dressed up and come by yourself, with a group of friends, or as a couple. New Brew’s Eve Celebration

Augustino Brewing, 756 N Tyler Rd., invites you to join them New Year’s Eve for live music and local brew. Time to get FANCY Wichita at Abode! You’ll see DJ Carbon and the biggest balloon drop in the city. Tickets are $75 per person in advance, $100 at the door.
