Live the Good Life for Less & Never Miss a Deal

FREE Screening of Academy Award Short Films 2026

The Wichita Public Library will once again host FREE screenings of the Annual Academy Award-nominated Short Films in 2026. This year, they are thrilled to partner with Boulevard Theaters Old Town for an all-day celebration on Saturday, March 7, featuring all 15 nominated short films across the Animated, Live Action, and Documentary categories.

They will keep the festivities going with additional screenings at several Wichita Public Library locations near you throughout the week leading up to the Academy Awards ceremony on Sunday, March 15.

Academy Awards Free Short Film Screening

Wichita Public Library was one of the first organizations in the nation to provide a way for communities outside of major cities like New York and LA to see the nominated films.

Since 1986, the Library has annually previewed the short films nominated in the animated, live-action, and documentary categories at various times, dates, and locations, free and open to the public.

The Oscar-nominated short films are each 40 minutes or less, in the categories of Animation, Live Action, and Documentary. Admission is free for all showings.

The films are not rated and may not be suitable for all audiences. However, all films this year have an R-rating consideration.

Visit the Wichita Public Library Website to register for the film festival and to learn more.

To reiterate, the films aren’t rated and may not be suitable for all ages. All showings are FREE!
