If you know any 5th through 9th graders who want to earn a summer income mowing lawns, be sure to set aside a few hours during Spring Break for them to take the Youth Lawn Mowing Clinic at the Sedgwick County Extension. The clinic will be held this year on March 13, 2019.
Sign up early for the clinic and pay only $10 per participant. After March 1, the fee will be $15 per participant.
Update: Woohoo, great news! The Extension just sent out an update saying that kids who complete the youth lawn mowing clinic will be reimbursed $10, thanks to the generous sponsorship of Shaun & Ashley Weaver.
The training will include information about types of lawn grasses and their proper care, lawn mower safety and maintenance, and good business practices. At the conclusion of the clinic, participants will be given an information packet, business cards, and a certificate of completion.
Kids will learn:
(1) lawn grasses and their proper care
(2) lawn mowing safety
(3) lawn mower maintenance
(4) lawn mowing business basics
The Youth Lawn Mowing Clinic will be held at the Sedgwick County Extension Education Center at 21st and Ridge in Wichita. There will be two sessions (morning or afternoon) to choose from.
- The morning session will run from 9:20 a.m. to 11:40 a.m. (Check-in starts at 9 a.m.)
- The afternoon session will run from 1:20 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Check-in starts at 1 p.m.)
The cost of the clinic is only $10 for advanced registration up to March 1, or $15 after that date. Space is limited so make sure to register early. The deadline for registration is March 19 or a full class, whichever is first.
