Sharing is caring!
The Great Plains Nature Center welcomes the community to its free Spring Work Day in the Park. This annual event is a crowd favorite in anticipation of the warmer months.
Spring Work Day is a chance for people of all ages and abilities to get outside and help prepare Chisholm Creek Park for the warmer months! We’ll have a wide range of cleanup tasks, trail maintenance, and group projects to fill the morning with productivity.

Spring Work Day:
- Enjoy lunch (In the past, it’s been hot dogs or pizza) while supplies last!
- All Ages and free to attend.
- Volunteers must register for this event by Friday, April 11th. To sign up, please contact Darah at volunteer@gpnc.org.
“This is a fun, productive way to learn about taking care of this vital local space,” says Darah Jewell, Event and Volunteer Coordinator at the GPNC. “We’re excited to welcome members of the community as we work together, making sure we’re ready for the busiest months of the year.”
Spring Work Day at Great Plains Nature Center: Saturday, April 12th, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Location: at 6232 E. 29th St. North in Wichita.
“We look forward to this cleanup day each year as we welcome a new season of events, daily park visits, and the beauty of wildlife under the sun,” says Darah Jewell, Volunteer & Event Coordinator with the Great Plains Nature Center. “It’s so much fun to spend time with enthusiastic volunteers working together to help us get ready! Lunch together after all the work is just a bonus.”
