Learing Through Art & Music Wichita: Free Class

Wichita Park & Recreation is partnering with Arts Partners Wichita to offer Learning Through Art & Music, a creative literacy program designed to help students strengthen reading skills through hands-on art and music activities.

The program begins March 23, 2026, and will take place at three Wichita recreation centers. Best of all, the classes are completely FREE, making this a great opportunity for families looking for meaningful activities without adding extra costs.

Students will participate in engaging visual art and music workshops that combine creativity with literacy learning. Every participant receives instruction in both art and music, with activities designed to support grade-level reading standards while keeping kids excited about learning.

Learning Through Art & Music:

• Build reading fluency and comprehension through art, music, movement, and storytelling
• Explore characters, settings, themes, vocabulary, and point of view in creative ways
• Express ideas through drawing, painting, sculpture, singing, rhythm, and performance
• Strengthen confidence, collaboration, and communication skills
• Connect learning to real-world experiences through performances and field trips

Programs like this are a great reminder that learning doesn’t always have to look like traditional classroom work. By combining art, music, and literacy, students get the chance to explore stories and ideas in creative ways while building important academic skills.

Here are the Learning Through Art & Music class schedules, organized by location so it’s easy for families to see the days and times. All classes run 4:00 PM – 6:30 PM and are FREE.
