The Orpheum Theater in Wichita has added another summer film series to its lineup, but this one is specially for kids and families.
The series features film adaptations of children’s books by British author Roald Dahl.
Showtimes are 2 p.m. for each of the movies in the Roald Dahl Family Film Series at the Orpheum this summer.

Matilda is a 1996 American fantasy comedy film directed by Danny DeVito, based on Roald Dahl’s novel of the same name, starring Mara Wilson, DeVito, Rhea Perlman, Embeth Davidtz, and Pam Ferris. The film is about a young genius named Matilda Wormwood, who uses telekinesis to deal with her parents and older brother, who do not value education, and Agatha Trunchbull, the oppressive principal of Crunchem Hall Elementary School. June 23, 2019 at 2 p.m.
James and the Giant Peach is a 1996 musical fantasy film directed by Henry Selick, based on the 1961 novel of the same name by Roald Dahl. It was produced by Tim Burton and Denise Di Novi, and starred Paul Terry as James. The film is a combination of live action and stop-motion animation. Co-stars Joanna Lumley and Miriam Margolyes played James’s aunts in the live-action segments, and Simon Callow, Richard Dreyfuss, Susan Sarandon, Jane Leeves, David Thewlis, and Margolyes voiced his insect friends in the animation sequences. June 30, 2019 at 2 p.m.
Fantastic Mr. Fox is a 2009 stop motion animated comedy film directed by Wes Anderson, based on Roald Dahl’s 1970 children’s novel of the same name. The film is about a fox who steals food each night from three mean and wealthy farmers. They are fed up with Mr. Fox’s theft and try to kill him, so they dig their way into the foxes’ home, but the animals are able to outwit the farmers and live underground. July 14, 2019 at 2 p.m.
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory is a 1971 American musical fantasy family film directed by Mel Stuart and starring Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka. It is an adaptation of the 1964 novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. Dahl. The film tells the story of an only child Charlie Bucket, who receives a Golden Ticket and visits Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory with four other children from around the world. July 21, 2019 at 2 p.m.
Admission to these movies is only $7 for adults, $6 for students, seniors, and military.

I was told there were discounts for children at the movies, but cannot find the info. Would you know?
I know they have $4 tickets for students, military, and senior citizens. Maybe that’s the discount you heard about? Other than that, I don’t know of any other children’s discounts at the Orpheum movies.
