What Are the Dates for the Kansas State Fair?
The 2019 Kansas State Fair will be held Sept. 6-15. Each day of the fair will have a theme and be centered around part of the state’s industry, people, innovations and entertainment. You’ll also be able to enjoy traditional fair favorites of live music and entertainment, contests, exhibits, fair food, carnival games and rides, vendors and more.
The Kansas State Fair provides plenty of ways to save money throughout 10 days of fun – from discount tickets and packages to Midway specials and season passes.
Here are several ways to save on Kansas State Fair tickets, carnival rides, and grandstand acts.
Kansas State Fair Admission Discounts
Discount outside gate admission is available for purchase before the fair begins.
You can buy your advance gate admission at Dillons or at the Kansas State Fair website ticket page. Purchase tickets by phone at 800-362-3247 or 620-669-3618, online, at any Kansas Dillons store, or in person at the KS State Fair Ticket Office.
Adults – Save $3 by purchasing tickets in advance. Gate admission is only $7 a person in advance, but you’ll pay $10 at the gate.
Kids – Save $2 on tickets for kids ages 6-12. Kids fair admission is only $4 in advance, $6 at the gate. Kids 5 and younger get in free.
Seniors – Save $2 when you purchase senior (ages 60+) admission in advance. Tickets for seniors are $4 in advance; $6 at the gate.
Kansas State Fair Military Discount – New for 2019 is a military discount at the fair. All military service members, retired or active, and their families can purchase $4 gate admission tickets with military ID.
To get the military discount, you’ll need to purchase your tickets from McConnell Air Force Base at the Information, Tickets and Tours Office.
Kansas State Fair Season Pass – A plastic scannable card that is good for up to 10 gate admissions for a cost of $40. The 10 admissions can be used one per day or in any increments by different people. If you’ve got a group of people going or plan to be at the fair several nights, this is a great deal. It must be purchased before Sept. 6, but you’ll save up to $60 off gate admission prices.
Kansas State Fair Dillon’s Dollar Day
Admission is only $1 on Monday of the Fair. Show your Dillons card to get FREE admission (1 Dillons card per free admission).
Most carnival rides are just 1 ticket each on Dollar Day.
Kansas State Fair Carnival Ride Tickets
Carnival Ride Tickets – You can purchase ride tickets in advance in sheets of 20 for $20, plus convenience and handling fees. After opening day, you’ll need to purchase ride tickets at the fair.
Most rides will take two to four tickets, depending on the ride.
On State Fair Dollar Day, most ride tickets are discounted to only 1 ticket each.
Carnival Wristband Events – Midway wristbands cost $30 each, plus online convenience fee. There are several wristband events, where your wristband gets you unlimited carnival rides during the State Fair. (Carnival hours vary each of those days.)
Kansas State Fair Concert Discounts
Probably the biggest way to save at the Kansas State Fair is to buy your concert tickets before the early-bird deadline in August. Purchase State Fair concert tickets and you’ll get gate admission included for free; otherwise you’ll have to pay for both!
Special Attractions and Events
There is a cost for some attractions and events, but there are also plenty of free entertainment options, including concerts, roving acts, stage performances and Fearless Flores Thrill Show featuring motorcycle-madness and skilled stunts.
Kids can stay cool in the splash fountain on fair grounds.
Kansas State Fair Package Deals
Special state fair package deals change from year to year, but they usually include some combination of gate admission, ride vouchers, food tickets, and other perks.
