Wichita Football League
What Parents Should Know
The league is beginning a transition to a school boundary–based feeder system. This change is designed to better connect teams with local schools and help build stronger community ties. The transition will happen gradually over the next few seasons so current teams are not disrupted.
Eligibility Highlights
• 1st, 2nd, 7th, and 8th grade players must live within USD 259 boundaries
• Players outside USD 259 can only join as part of a full team from the same district (minimum 13 players)
• 3rd–6th-grade players can return to existing teams or be placed as free agents
Future Changes to Know
• 2027: New feeder system expands to more grade levels
• 2028: All divisions will be based on school boundaries
This shift also aligns with USD 259, adding dedicated middle school football coaches, helping players build connections as they move into high school programs.
Why This is a Good Deal
At just $75 for registration, this is one of the more affordable youth sports options in Wichita. Compared to many club sports, it offers a structured, competitive experience without the high price tag. Even with late registration at $150, it is still a strong value for a full season of play.
