It’s a fun day of activities, education, and talking to the local growers you’re buying from. I highly recommend it. For my family, this event feels like the kickoff to summer.
They always have a fun kids’ activity too, so be on the lookout for that if you have kiddos.
At the educational seminars you can earn about selecting, planting, maintaining, and cooking with herbs. There will be seminars inside in the Sunflower Room and outside in the demonstration garden.
The Farmers Market will be going on outside, where plant vendors from around the region will have herbs and other plants on sale.
You’ll also want to check out the Master Gardener Plant Sale inside the 4H building. The prices are good, and the gardeners are right there to give you good tips for growing them. I heard there will be a garden magazine and book sale going on too.
Lunch will also be available for purchase. Just follow the delectable aromas and you’ll find the concession area (usually in the far corner of the big auditorium).
Really, there are lots of activities and so much to learn. But save some energy – if you’re anything like me, you’ll go home with plenty of work to do in the garden.
