Back to school powwow at Mid-America All-Indian Center

Sharing is caring!

On Saturday, September 11, 2021, the Mid-America All-Indian Center will host a Back to School Powwow.

The powwow is hosted by USD 259 Title VI Native American Indian Education Programs.

Because the NAIEP was unable to have their annual School’s Out Powwow last April they wanted to kick off the school year instead! Show up and support Native American students in the Wichita Public School district who will be participating and have helped organize this event.

Everyone is welcome to attend this free event!

NAIEP Powwow Schedule

The event will start with gourd dancing from 2:00pm-4:30pm immediately followed by dinner break from 4:30-6:00pm.

Free traditional Native American dinner will be served while supplies last including fry bread and stew.

Grand entry of the powwow will take place at 6:00pm. Grand entry begins the powwow where all dancers enter the arena led by American Indian JROTC students presenting the flags.

During the 6:00pm-9:00pm timeframe, the dance exhibitions will take place as well as the crowning of the NAIEP 2021-2022 Princess.
