Bring your family and some lawn chairs to Stearman Field in Benton, KS for the 6th annual Pumpkin Drop and Halloween Bash. It’s a fun, family-friendly Halloween event!
Kids can wear their costumes for this event and even participate in a costume contest in the afternoon.
Stearman Field Bar and Grill will be serving from a limited menu all day, and they’ll have a beer garden and concession stand outside as well. (No coolers allowed.)
Airplanes will fly in to drop their pumpkins on the target below beginning at 2 p.m. The costume contest will be at about 3:30 p.m. The pumpkin drop usually lasts a couple of hours, depending on how many pilots sign up to participate.
Later in the evening adults can take their turn at a costume contest during the live music portion of the event – at about 10 p.m.
Since this is an outdoor event and very weather-dependent, be sure to keep an eye on the Stearman Field Bar & Grill Facebook page for information and announcements.
Here’s their event listing on Facebook:
“This is one of our favorite events! Starting at 2pm the Pumpkin Drop will take place. This is where pilots drop pumpkins onto a target below to compete for the 2018 trophy plus a $100 Stearman Gift Card. (Pilots call or email us to sign up, must check in by 1pm day of. The pilot briefing will take place at 1:30pm). Typically the Pumpkin drop lasts a couple hours, depending on the number of pilots that sign up. Don’t forget to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets. We will have a refreshment stand inside the fenced area out near the stage. Absolutely no coolers, outside drink or food allowed. At approximately 3:30pm a children’s costume contest will take place in front of the DJ booth, which will be located on our West lawn, we will announce when that happens. Then that evening starting at 7pm The Astronauts Band will perform under the gazebo. Adults come in costume because we are doing an adult costume contest at approximately 10pm. Don’t want to come because you don’t have a costume? Come anyway, not everyone wants to be in a costume. Can’t wait to see everyone on October 20th!”
