Junior Football in Wichita

Sharing is caring!

Tackle football in Wichita is back with the Wichita Junior Football League. If your kids are interested in football, this is a great opportunity to get involved in one of the Midwest’s most recognized youth leagues. The Wichita Junior Football League continues to be a strong program for developing young athletes while keeping costs affordable for families.

This league has a long history of showcasing local talent and giving kids a chance to learn the game, build skills, and be part of a team. It is a great option whether your child is just starting out or already loves football.

What Parents Should Know

The league is beginning a transition to a school boundary–based feeder system. This change is designed to better connect teams with local schools and help build stronger community ties. The transition will happen gradually over the next few seasons so current teams are not disrupted.

Eligibility Highlights

• 1st, 2nd, 7th, and 8th grade players must live within USD 259 boundaries
• Players outside USD 259 can only join as part of a full team from the same district (minimum 13 players)
• 3rd–6th-grade players can return to existing teams or be placed as free agents

Future Changes to Know

• 2027: New feeder system expands to more grade levels
• 2028: All divisions will be based on school boundaries

This shift also aligns with USD 259, adding dedicated middle school football coaches, helping players build connections as they move into high school programs.

Why This is a Good Deal

At just $75 for registration, this is one of the more affordable youth sports options in Wichita. Compared to many club sports, it offers a structured, competitive experience without the high price tag. Even with late registration at $150, it is still a strong value for a full season of play.

Registration Details

Registration Date: March 30 – July 17, 2026
Location: Wichita Junior Football League (various fields across Wichita)
Cost: $75 (late registration $150)

No registrations will be accepted after July 24, so families should plan ahead.

This is a great way for kids to stay active, learn teamwork, and be part of something bigger — all while keeping it budget-friendly for Wichita families.
