The Big Float is a river float and beach party on the Arkansas River in downtown Wichita. The goal of the Big Float is to build support for improving river access and creating a river habitat for Wichitans. Because this is a fundraiser to fund the River’s water quality improvements and education opportunities, refunds are not available. The event will be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.
What to Expect at The Big Float Wichita
- The event includes music, drinks, food, fun-in-the-sun activities, and more.
- All ages are welcome, and life jackets are required.
- On-site registration is available on the day of the event.
- No need to air up your floatie before arrival. They will have air compressors.
- Take in sights, like the Keeper of the Plains, from a completely new and exciting vantage point – on the river!
- Join us for a fun float down the Arkansas River. Bring your tube, or rent one for a fee. Proceeds go to water quality improvements on the Arkansas River watershed. Register: The Big Float
Where is the Big Float? It’s in the Arkansas River.
Where to Park and Where to Start and End? Park in the rooftop parking garage at 150 N McLean. The launch will begin at 1:00 p.m.
The take-out point is located at the WSU River Vista Boathouse Dock, where you can enjoy all the fun activities.
