It’s the third day of 4 Days of Giveaways here at Wichita on the Cheap, and just for fun and because I can, I’m giving away a family 4-pack of tickets to a wonderful Kansas attraction. But first, congratulations to
Hilary
and
Laura
and
Patsy
They each won yesterday’s drawing for a Groupon from my personal stash to a great little gift shop in Delano called Bungalow26.
But now….for the big excitement….only ONE winner today, but it’s for a family :
I have 4 vouchers for All-Day Mission Passes to the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center in Hutchinson! The Cosmosphere is, as they say, out of this world right in the heart of Kansas. The all-day mission pass is out of this world too. It’s almost more than you can do in a day–you get the museum, the Dr. Goddard’s lab, the planetarium, and even an IMAX movie! (Now showing: A Christmas Carol)
This deal is almost too good. But it’s true! The passes were provided to me specifically for the purpose of giving away to Wichita on the Cheap readers. Pretty nice, huh? The Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center is located at 1100 North Plum in Hutchinson, Kansas.
To enter to win, just leave a comment below telling me one of two things: 1) if you’ve been to the Cosmosphere, I want to hear what you loved about it or 2) if you haven’t been, tell me your favorite other Wichita or Kansas attraction and what you love about it. (To see what travelers had to say about our own Cosmosphere, check out these reviews at TripAdvisor.com.) The comments are open until 11:59 tonight. A winner will be drawn randomly and announced tomorrow, Tuesday, December 14, 2010.
Please only enter once for this giveaway. (Multiple entries won’t be counted anyway.) The voting will close at 11:59 p.m. tonight!
If you win, you’ll need to be willing to provide me with your postal mailing address, because that’s how I’ll get your vouchers to you. But don’t put it in the comments! Just provide a valid email address where it’s required below and remember to check it.
Thanks to the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center for this fun prize!
By entering this drawing, you agree to the Official Rules.

My family LOVES the Sedgwick County Zoo! It is cheap entertainment (if you have a season pass) that is always changing! We pick 1 or 2 exhibits per trip to see so we can spend more time watching the animals in that particular area for longer without the stress of needing to rush through every area in one day! Although we find ourselves sitting in the gorilla exhibit more than any other place!!!
I was there almost 10 yrs ago and rember how my son was so facinated by the science lab. The imax was great. Would be a wonderful to revisit!
Oops! Sorry about the last comment… I was just at the Cosmosphere with my middle child last week and he had a blast! We are looking forward to going and seeing a Christmas Carol at the IMAX!
🙂 Merry Christmas!
The last time I went to the Cosmosphere was in the mid 80’s with my husband when we were in middle school! I can’t even remember much about it. :(. We would love to take our children, which one of them is almost the age we were when we last visited. I know so much has changed and would love to visit it.
Our boys absolutely loved visiting the Kansas Aviation Museum with their grandpa! Their favorite was going up into the control tower.
We have never been to the Cosmosphere and would love to go! We like going to Exploration Place so the kids can have a great time and learn a little something too! We have enjoyed the traveling exhibits the most, especially the whales! Santa is bringing membership passes this year to my kids.
I have been to the cosmosphere many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many times. I love it there! I have even been to three of the space camps there. Everyone is so kind there, I love going again and again. Hopefully, I can go again for free with my parents and my lil sis. We all enjoy it. To go for free would be awesome! 🙂
I have been to the cosmosphere…i loved the movies they show…i even saw polar express once in the imax!
We have been once as a family, when my oldest was an “only”…we now have 2 full-fledged space “nuts” who would LOVE to go and experience it all! My favorite part when we went was all the shuttle features and rocks, etc from the moon!
It’s been many years since I’ve gotten to go, but in 5th grade I loved the space ice cream! 🙂
We have not yet been to the Cosmosphere! My boys would love to be able to go though! Our favorite place to go here in Wichita is the Sedgewick County Zoo, we all love to look at and learn about the animals! We love it so much my husband volenteers there in the summer!
We’ve never been to the Cosmosphere. One of or favorite things here in Wichita is the Aviation Museum. We really enjoyed it!
I went to the Cosmosphere 20 some years ago when I was in the 4th grade. I now have 3 daughters and would love to take them there. I would love to see how it has changed. In Wichita my family loves to go to the zoo, Cowtown, and Botanica.
I went to the cosmosphere in middle school (9 years ago)! I don’t remember a whole lot but remember loving it &learning about space
My children have both been once but I never have. We would love to make a family outing of it! Locally our favorite places to go are the zoo or Tanganika.
Haven’t been to the cosmosphere yet but our kids love the Sedgwick zoo rainforest:) Would love to get the opportunity to check out the cosmosphere! We moved here from Oregon about a yeah and a half ago and have heard great things about the cosmosphere!
ALSO…tomorrow is my birthday…what a great gift it would be to win on my 31st:)
I always look forward to the IMAX movies at the Cosmosphere!
Thanks for the giveaway!
My Son was inspired to be an astronaut after the visit. Has been a while but we enjoyed it! Would love to go again!
Visited the Cosmosphere for the first time last summer, and I’m a Kansas grandma! Spent most of our time in the Hall of Space Museum, especially the Cold War section. Absolutely fascinating…would love to take my granddaughter back with me to see what she relates most to.
My favorite memory of the Cosmosphere is from when I took my daughter and son (5 and 2 at the time) and we saw Dr Goddard’s lab. They loved it and 5 years later remember the trip. I still haven’t taken my 4 year old yet and know that he’d love to go. I still remember going on a school field trip and trying space ice cream for the first time, good times!
I HAVE NOT BEEN SINCE THE KIDS WERE LITTLE AND I KNOW THEY HAVE ADDED AND CHANGED THINGS AROUND, SO I WOULD ENJOY THE VISIT. I ALSO THINK THE SHOW WOULD BE GREAT. THANKS
Haven’t been since I was little, but when I went when I was little I loved looking at all of the astronaut food! I would love to take my boys there!
It’s been years since I was there on a school field trip; I mostly just remember being amazed to see actual moon rocks.
I have been to the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center. It’s unbelievable that such a place exists in the middle of Kansas. From the entrance where the SR17 hangs to the incredible museum artifacts and the Omnimax Theater, it’s an incredible place to learn and have fun.
We HAVE been to the Cosmosphere, and we love it! My son is obcessed with spaceships right now! We are actually planning a trip to go there next Wednesday, so these tickets would be GREAT! My favorite part of the Cosmosphere is the area where they show a documentary on all of the successful missions to the moon, and the footage that accompanies it-there are some awesome images!
I’ve been to the Cosmosphere at least 6 times and loved each time. Everything from the Blackbird plane hanging in the lobby to the space hardware is outstanding. We are very luck to have such a centerpiece here in Kansas.
As to the “one thing” that I’ve enjoyed most it would have to be the moon lander exhibit. You can actually stand at a console identical to the one used to land on the moon for the first time. Amazing to look out over the simulated moonscape and imagine you are there. And you have many other pieces of space hardware that you can also actually touch and see up close as well.
The KS Cosmosphere and Space Center is so unique. Many people have either never visited, or like me, continually visit. My favorite items inside include the Apollo 13 exhibit, any of the Russian space flight artifacts (especially Yuri Gagarin’s) and most of all, the IMAX. It is truly a once in a lifetime place and everyone – yes, everyone – can have fun there. If I have friends visit from out of state, it is the ONE THING EVERYONE COMES AND SEES! AND! everyone loves it. Without question.
We love going to the Sedgwick County Zoo. We have a membership. We love it because we use the money we save to donate to the various things around the zoo,and we have so much fun going to see the animals with our kids. Every time we go we experience something new. My husband and I have been to the Cosmoshere but the kids have not yet had the opportunity. My husband and I would love to share the experience of the Kansas Cosmosphere with our children.
We’ve never been to the Cosmosphere but my kids love the Sedgwick County Zoo and Exploration Place. I enjoy taking them places like that because there is always something new for them to learn and the whole family has a great time.
I went drove on a school field trip with my son many, many years ago. (He is 32 now) I remember absolutely loving the imax movie! I have grandsons now and I would really love to take them.
It has been several years, but I loved the Cosmosphere the last time I went. Being able to see artifacts up-close like an SR-71 or the space shuttle was probably my favorite thing. It was amazing to stand a few feet from something that had been into space. Dr. Goddard’s Lab was also pretty awesome. If I win I think I’ll use it as a reward field trip for some of my students. (I am a high school science teacher in Haysville)
I’ve been there several times…we went several times when I was in school for field trips, with my grandparents, and last year I took my children there for the first time! My favorite has always been the Apollo gallery.
I’ve always loved the Cosmosphere and it just keeps getting better. We recently brought my daughter and her husband, who live in Orlando, to visit. It is better in many ways than the Kennedy Space Center, which we’ve all visited several times. The staff almost had to kick us out at closing–there was still so much to see and learn from the exhibits.

My favorite thing at the Cosmosphere is the stained glass mural. It’s just beautiful! And they have great gifts at the gift shop too, very unique stuff can be found there. I have a whole crew coming in from out of town for the holidays so I would give the tix to them so they could escape the house for a bit and enjoy a big part of Hutchinson.
I have not been to the cosmosphere in forever! I remember going and getting the freeze dried food when I was younger! Ice cream and strawberries were my fave!!
I’ve never been. Would love to see it! Last night’s channel 8 PBS had lots of interesting attractions in KS. We NEED another WPA for jobs!!!
My family & I have visited the Hutch Cosmosphere museum several times and they have phenomenal artifacts!!! The space moon rock is AMAZING 🙂 Would *LOVE* the all day pass for the planetarium, lab and IMAX, which we haven’t been *=)
Please disregard my last comment! I didn’t read the directions… 🙁 We’ve been to the Cosmosphere ages ago but without the kids so it would be fun to bring them along. Our favorite KS attraction is the Tallgrass National Prairie Preserve.
My family loves the Cosmosphere! Funny thing: we’ve NEVER been together! HAHA I’ve been with my husband. He’s been with our daughter, though I don’t think she remembers it. My boys have been with their dad. My favorite part is the IMAX! Saw Monsters of the Sea! What a GREAT way to learn!!
I have been to the cosmosphere several times. My daughter went to space camp a few years back and it was great to watch them demo their experiments for us.
We love Riverside Park and the many trails it has.
I went when I was younger. It was a special trip for my girl scout troop. We satyed out late and watched the stars afterwards.
My kids and I love the astronaut food at the Cosmosphere!
I have not been to the cosmosphere..but would love too. I do however miss the omnisphere
I loved going on field trips to the Cosmosphere! My favorite thing to do was the giant bubble. Kids got to stand inside a giant bubble! This would be great for the kids in my family!
My husband and I have been to the cosmosphere many times, and love to see the history kept alive! We have a seven year old who dreams of being an astronaut, and a 15 month old who loves to go anywhere really…..we would LOVE to take them to see the cosmosphere!
My family has not been to the Cosmosphere. Here in Wichita are favorite thing to do is taking are 3 boys to the Zoo and walking around by the river downtown.
I took my Cub scouts to the Cosmosphere for a sleepover to work on some badges. The Cosmosphere has so many great programs for kids to learn and they make it so fun! My favorite thing there is Dr. Goddard’s Lab. Not only did I learn a lot, I got to enjoy explosions and gases. The Cub Scouts had a blast too.
I havent been to the Cosmosphere since I was 7 or 8 years old. I am 33 now with 3 girls under age of 15. My favorite spot in Wichita is the keeper of the plains exhibit…me and my family go there alot. I love how it has displays of education all over and teaches people about a rich indian history. also there is a vietnam memorial right down the walkway from the keeper of the plains. you just feel a sense of pride walking through…seeing all the men and womens names under each war…those who died at war who were from kansas…makes you feel proud to be american and proud to be a kansan!
Three out four people in my family have not been to the cosmosphere. My oldest son went on a field trip last year. One of my favorite places to visit in KS is the Little House on the Prarie. Can’t remember exactly where it is. It was very interesting to me.
I have not been in years but I always loved the history of it all. I would love to take my kids.
I have been there when I was younger, my boys have not, and they would love to go. The museum was one of my favorite parts with actual moon rocks and seeing the equipments that is used on missions, and of course the IMAX movies were amazing!
The space museum was my favorite! It’s been years since I was there and am ready to go back!!!
I have been, but not since I was a kid. I loved the scale that told me how much I weighed in space!
this would be awesome to win
I have been to the cosmosphere a few times. My son went to space camp this past summer and had an absolute blast. My daughter is 6 and is already showing an interest in science and i would love to take her to see all that is offered there and to be able to go free would be even better.
I love goddard’s lab it is exciting whether you are 5 or 95.
My 3 kids love going to the Cosmosphere! Would love to win this one! 🙂 Thanks for the fun giveaways!
I have not been but I love going to Coronado Heights near Salina…it’s just beautiful and the castle is interesting! In Wichita my husband and I both LOVE to go to the Keeper of the Plains and just walk around…that is where he proposed to me at =] I love sitting by the water and just taking in the beauty of life!
