Live the Good Life for Less & Never Miss a Deal

Enter to Win a Free Wristband for Taste of Wichita

Sharing is caring!

If you’ve seen the previous post about Taste of Wichita, you know it’s going to be a great time. Spend the last weekend of summer vacation sampling food, music, art, and all the best that Wichita has to offer on Saturday, August 14, 2010.

A wristband gets you in to enjoy the whole experience and is already a great value at $20 for adults and $5 for kids. A portion of the proceeds will benefit The Lord’s Diner and Food 4 Kids, so you’re supporting a couple of good causes at the same time.

But to make it even better, Wichita on the Cheap has 10 adult admission wristbands to give away! To win a wristband, simply comment on this post with something you love about Wichita. It could be something specific, like a particular restaurant or entertainment venue, or something more encompassing like the low cost of living, great museums and attractions, and friendly people. You tell me what you love!

The ten winners will be selected randomly from among the commenters. If you win you’ll be notified by email, so make sure you use a valid address (and check it). Once you’re notified, you’ll need to supply me with your mailing address before 8 a.m. CST on Monday, August 9th, 2010 (sooner is better) so I can send your wristband to you by regular U.S. mail.

Make your comment before midnight Central Standard Time on Thursday, August 5, 2010. And tell your friends so they can have a shot at winning too!

By entering, you agree to all of the official rules. (Click here to read the official rules.)

  1. I love Old Town! The atmosphere is electric! The streets are filled with all different ages and cultures. With all the different restaurants and shops you are sure to find something you love! Check out Old Town!

  2. Me and the kids love Wichita and have taken full advantage of what it has to offer this summer. Our favorites include Exploration Place, Zoo, Museum of World Treasure, Baseball, variety of parks and especially the g2g activities. I don’t care what people say, you can always find something to do in Wichita… keep it up wichitaonthecheap:-)

  3. One of my most favorite things in this city is Music Theatre of Wichita! We are so lucky to be able to see such Broadway quality entertainment every summer. It is the best organization in town!!

  4. I love the S.C. Zoo!! My 8 month old and I go all the time and we both enjoy it so much! Thanks for this great giveaway!! This sounds like fun!! 🙂

  5. I travel a fair amount and it’s always such a relief to come home. It’s easy to get places (traffic isn’t congested), there are short or no lines to get in places and prices are reasonable. There’s always something to do if you’re open to trying things. Between the Y water parks, movies, events (such as Taste of Wichita), First/Final events, and awesome shops in Delano, Wichita is worth exploring. Thanks Wichita on the Cheap for letting us know about what’s going on!

  6. I love that the roads are so easy to navigate! It’s all for the most part nicely laid out on a grid. Visited Dallas and hated it! lol

  7. I love Wichita, Kansas, because it has just the right blend of small town friendliness, helpfulness, supportive, caring people, but yet a great place for all kinds of entertainment, events, concerts, theater… just like the big cities! Music Theatre of Wichita, the Sedgwick County Zoo, Crown Uptown Dinner Theater, the Intrust Arena, Century II, all the many parks, walking trails, movie theaters, great restaurants. . . . there’s never a lack of things to do in Wichita! Wichita rocks and I wouldn’t live anywhere else!!

  8. I love all the art events that go on like Final Fridays and free Saturdays at the Wichita Art Museum.

  9. Wichita is perfect-sized for me. It has everything I need without being overwhelmingly large.

  10. I love the Sedgwick County Zoo. I visit zoos all over the US in my travels, and Sedgwick County easily has one of the best in the nation.

  11. I love how it is so easy to get around. You can be anywhere in the city in 15 minutes.

  12. I find that the downtown ‘entertainment’ area of Old Town provides the background for more senior pictures than any I know of. Wichita was extremely smart to bring that area back to life!

  13. Living here for 59 years and no regrets., We can see the sky, stars, and the weather will change so you are never bored. Wichita is getting the culture and music that completes us so we can enjoy our same town living with big town fun!!!!!!

  14. If you were in Old Town in front of the Warren right now you would not need to ask why I love Wichita. Fountains with happy, soaking wet children. Public wedding proposal. Live music. Perfect weather. This is a great night!

  15. I love the fact that Wichita is big enough to have most things I want to do, but it’s small enough to get around easily in it, and I feel safe.

  16. One of my favorite places in Wichita is the Spice Merchant. So many wonderful things I want to take home with me!

  17. Wichita is a low cost of living as far as rent, places to go are accessible , great summer entertainment. Have had Friends visit from other Cities & they cant believe how inexpensive it is to live here. Husband was stationed here from Military & stayed been here over 30 yrs!

  18. I love how many fun restaurants there are to try, and I have to tell everyone how much I love Music Theatre of Wichita!!

  19. I think the amazing outdoor artwork in Wichita is the best! It is fun to find all the different examples from stainless bumper horses to bronze sculptures!

  20. I love the river walk area, especially around the Keeper of the Plains Indian, they have done a great job improving the area and is a great place to walk around.

  21. I love how Wichita has wokred to clean up Old Town and make it more inviting for visitors and residence to come and attend all the additional evetns and festivals that are going on down there.

  22. I love Wichita’s restaurants and museums. I can eat great food and learn something every day!

  23. There are so many things to love about Wichita. The cost of living is one of the most affordable around. It has a small town feel with big city amenities. There is something for everyone. If you are into sports…there is Wichita State with nationally ranked programs, and the Wingnuts. If you are into the arts….Music Theater of Wichita, Wichita Sympony, as well as Final Friday Art Crawl, and First Friday Music Crawl. You could spend every day trying a new restaurant, and never eat the same place twice. And it’s family friendly with the Zoo, Botanica, and Museum of World Treasurers. So much to do….so little time!

  24. What do I like about Wichita…well, it’s big enough to have everything I want and need, and yet small enough that everything is easily within range. I grew up in a town of about 2500, so Wichita was always the destination.

  25. I love the sense of “community” I feel here. Everyone always seems to step up and help where help is needed.

  26. I love how clean Wichita is. When I visit other areas I always notice the trash and graffiti. Not here! Wichita is always beautiful.

  27. One thing I love about Wichita is how safe I feel when I’m out walking my dog early morning or late at night. I’m lucky enough to live in an area that is beautiful, well lit and watched closely. Of course, I’m always mindful of my surroundings but appreciate that I can get out and exercise or stroll and feel secure.

  28. Wichita has lots to offer. My favorite has to be the Sedgwick County Zoo. It is an awesome zoo and it is constantly expanding to bring in new exhibits. But thats not all. They also offer many opportunities to learn about animals in general with their classes and sleepover.

  29. Wichita is great in many ways. Not too big, not too small. Lots of good arts-related opportunities from live music to Final Friday. Also, we have a wealth of health care available including specialists that cam be hard to find elsewhere.

  30. I love that the nightlife is really taking off! The improvements in downtown and old town have really made it a fun place to be for a night on the town.

  31. I think one of the best things about Wichita is that there’s always something new to try out. A new restaurant, dessert, band, exhibit, event. Like the Taste of Wichita, for example, which is why I’d love to win this giveaway!
