If you don’t already have a Wichita Public Library card and would like one so you can take advantage of numerous library resources available online, the WPL is making it easy for you to get one.
The Library announced on Saturday that it is now issuing e-cards over the phone.
With a Wichita Public Library card, you can access free ebooks and audiobooks, research tools like online databases, language learning, and more.
UPDATE: And now you can even read magazines for free with your library card! Flipster, a service that allows you to browse digital versions of popular magazines, is being offered for FREE courtesy of the Wichita Public Library while physical library branches are closed to the public because of COVID-19.
For questions about Flipster, or to sign up for a Wichita Public Library e-card, call 261-8500 between 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Customers can access Flipster at wichitalibrary.org/flipster.
The Library has been sharing numerous other free resources and online storytimes on its Facebook and Twitter accounts. For example, WPL announced yesterday that Ancestry.com has granted at-home access to its library edition for library card holders until April 30. They also shared that Audible is providing a collection of titles available completely free to entertain, engage, and inform young people ages 0-18.
Several people asked the Library on its Facebook page what to do about overdue books. The Library said it is waiving overdue fees during its closure. Just return the books once the Library reopens.
