Looking for affordable and educational summer activities in Wichita? Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum is offering several FREE summer programs and workshops for kids, teens, and families.
These hands-on activities are a fun way to keep learning going during the summer months while exploring Wichita history inside the city’s historic 1890 City Hall building.

Playing in the Past
Date: June 7, 2026
Time: Drop in anytime from 1–4 PM
Guests can explore the “A Child’s World” exhibit and try old-fashioned games kids played over 100 years ago.
Activities include:
• Jacks
• Spinning tops
• Marbles
• Historic toys and games

Cursive Writing Workshops
Learn and practice cursive handwriting with guidance from an experienced teacher.
Ages 7–12
Dates: July 14–15, 2026
Time: 1–3 PM
Ages 13+
Dates: July 16–17, 2026
Time: 1–3 PM
Workshop Highlights:
• Practice upper- and lowercase letters
• Learn to write full names in cursive

Clock-wise: Tower Tour & Activity

This unique program gives visitors a behind-the-scenes tour of the museum’s clock tower while learning about Wichita’s original City Hall building.
Activities include:
• Clock tower tours
• Design your own clock face activity
• Learn the history of the building’s clock
