Sharing is caring!
The Wichita Art Museum is celebrating its 90th anniversary, and the community is invited to join the festivities with two free events happening back-to-back on September 26 and 27. Whether you’re looking for a lively night out or a family-friendly day of creativity, WAM has something for everyone.

Friday, September 26 – WAM Birthday Bash (6–8 p.m.)
Kick off the celebration Friday evening with a free museum-wide party. DJ Carbon will bring the music, dancers will perform in the galleries, and guests can take part in a community art project. The whole museum will be alive with sights and sounds, turning your usual museum visit into an interactive experience filled with art, dance, and energy.
Saturday, September 27 – Family ArtVenture: Celebrating 90 Years of Education (11 a.m.–3 p.m.)
The festivities continue on Saturday with a day dedicated to families and education. In partnership with Wichita Public Schools, the museum will showcase the talents of local students and teachers through student docents in the galleries, live musical performances, and art-making opportunities led by area art teachers. It’s a wonderful way to honor National Arts in Education Week while celebrating WAM’s legacy.
I love that events like this give my daughters and me the chance to enjoy the museum together without spending a dime. The Permanent Gallery and the PLAY Kids Area are always free, but this celebration brings even more to the table with live music, dance, and hands-on activities, making it the kind of visit that turns into a lasting memory.
