The Wichita Art Museum has canceled its Summer Birthday Bash due to an executive order from Sedgwick County’s Local Health Officer Dr. Garold Minns limiting mass gatherings to 45 people where social distancing isn’t available.
You can see the museum’s announcement about canceling the event on Facebook.
The Wichita Art Museum turns 85 this year and it will celebrating its birthday again on July 11! Some may remember this event for the free ice cream, some may remember it for the art, either way you’ll still have both. Get free admission and free ice cream sandwiches handed out with a smile by the Wichita Wagonmasters at the Wichita Art Museum Summer Birthday Bash on July 11, 2020.
WAM was also recently renovated! Go check out its Boeing Foyer, Living Room, and S. Jim and Darla Farha Great Hall. You can eat-in or take-out lunch from the Muse Café’s renovated menu as well.
The event will include music and art-making activities, and you can spend an hour or two strolling through the museum’s current exhibits. Also available this year, on the lawn, will be Bubble Mania Family ArtVenture, food trucks, lawn games, and tunes provided by DJ Carbon.
The Wagonmasters will be handing out wrapped ice cream sandwiches, as supplies last!
Music will be provided by pianist Bob Wambold and Mandolin Monroe, and you can stroll through the galleries and participate in a cool community art project.
Birthday Bash activities will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Happy 85th birthday, Wichita Art Museum!
