Riverfront Stadium finally gets to see some use with Wichita’s baseball team. The Wind Surge take the field with home games against the Amarillo Sod Poodles (suddenly the name “Wind Surge” doesn’t seem as bad…)
The Wind Surge are scheduled to play the Sod Poodles in three more games this weekend, and they have promotions happening for every one of the games. (See the schedule at the MILB website here.)
Now, on to the most important question: Where to park for a game at Riverfront Stadium? This was a big question back when the stadium was being built, and it’s a fair question. You don’t want to be driving around in circles downtown when the game’s about to start!
The City of Wichita has produced a map and a very handy video showing available parking lots. The map differentiates between free and paid parking (just look at the legend), and the video gives you a really good visual because you can see familiar landmarks that will help you locate these parking places.
Parking Map for Riverfront Stadium
Unfortunately it looks like most of the parking nearest to the stadium is paid. (I know, I’m spoiled. But that’s because I’ve lived here in the land of free parking for decades!)
It looks like there’s a shuttle though from the farther lots. Note the gold line and the little black circles that indicate shuttle stops:
Here’s a video that really helped me get a visual of where these parking lots are located around Riverfront Stadium. Thank you to the person who thought of making the video. You probably deserve a raise:
