What is happening to the old Greyhound Park in Park City? A new gambling area with Historical Horse Racing, Gilley’s dancehall, restaurants, bars, and a hotel with 110 rooms.
The Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission approved the new proposal in July 2023. They will not tear down the old Greyhound facility but it will have a completely new look.
What is historical horse racing?
- It’s a way of gambling. You bet on horse races that have happened already.
- They are like slot machines. They have spinning pictures, and it sounds like a slot machine.
- You will get information about the horses and jockey before placing your bet.
- The player chooses the order of horses, or you can choose to have the machine choose for you.
The new facility will be called the Golden Circle Historic Horse Racing Facility.
About the facility:
- It is going into the old Greyhound Park in Park City that closed in 2007.
- It’s 3 stories tall.
- Phil Ruffin is behind the project that will cost roughly $100 million dollars.
- There are 80 acres of land for the new project.
What is Gilley’s Dance Hall?
- It’s a big chance hall that is going into the new Golden Circle Historical Horse Racing Facility in Park City.
- There are Gilley’s dance halls in Dallas, TX, and Las Vegas, NV, and soon one in Park City, KS!!
- Live music, bar, and food.
They will be creating over 400 new jobs and will open in late 2024 or early 2025.
