Sharing is caring!
Amazon Prime Day is back for 2025, and this year, it’s scheduled for July 8 – 11, 2025. It’s Amazon’s biggest sale of the year.
If you don’t know what Prime Day is, it’s kind of like a Black Friday in July for Amazon. Here’s my suggestion for making the most of Amazon Prime Day: Purchase items you already planned to buy, rather than just getting something because it’s on sale. That’s not real savings!

How to prepare for Amazon Prime Day:
- Make sure you have an Amazon Prime Membership.
- Prime Day deals are available to Amazon Prime members only. If you don’t have a Prime account and want to get in on these deep discounts, sign up for a free 30-day trial. You’ll have plenty of time to get the deals before your trial membership is up.
- If you’re on SNAP or EBT, you can get a discounted Prime membership.
- If you’re a student, you get a Free 90-day Trial instead of the regular 30-day one.
- Once you are a Prime Member, take some time to set up your payment method and fill out your default delivery address. That way, once you find your deal, you can get it right away before it’s gone.
- As Prime Day approaches, you can set up a DEAL alert on the Amazon app. It will send you notifications related to your Amazon searches and recently viewed items. Once Prime Day begins, members will receive notifications and great deals.
Tips for Prime Day Shopping:
- Start your wishlist now!
- If you’re already a Prime member, you can access Prime Day Deals early.
- Due to the limited quantities of these deals, many will sell out quickly, so Prime members should check back frequently to view new deals launching throughout the 48-hour event.
So what are the deals on Prime Day?
Although we don’t know all of the specific deals that will be available until Amazon Prime Day actually happens, we do know a few specific brands Amazon mentioned in its press release, including iRobot, Samsung, and Redken. We also know that they almost always offer the deepest discounts on Amazon devices, such as the Echo and Alexa, Fire TV and Fire Tablets, and Kindle E-readers.
But during Prime Days, you’ll probably find deals across almost all categories – TVs, smart home, kitchen, grocery, toys, fashion, furniture, appliances, gifts – and even be able to stock up on everyday items. Prime members also get exclusive savings at Whole Foods Market.
Tips to get the best deals on Prime Day:
Prime Day kicks off at midnight (PDT) on July 8 (which is 2 a.m. Central Time) and runs for 48 hours. New Prime Day deals will be posted as often as every five minutes. While some of the deals may sell out quickly, you can find good bargains. Here are a few insider tips to help you get all the best deals during the Prime Day sales.
My personal opinion is that you’ll get the best value from these Deals if you already have a list of things you need or want and search for deals on those. (This helps you avoid impulse buys!)
What you get with Amazon Prime:
Besides Prime Day Deals, a subscription to Amazon Prime can save you money. We have a subscription primarily because we ditched cable TV and Prime gives us access to more shows and channels than other subscription services. We do have other streaming services, but if I had to choose one it would be Amazon Prime, because that also gives us some free e-books each month, some free streaming music, and of course the free 2-day shipping when we buy Prime-eligible products. There are other benefits too, like free online photo storage.
Know your prices and specs:
I probably sound like a broken record since I say this all the time but for any big sale days where you’ll have to make quick decisions, you should know in advance exactly what specific features you want in the products you intend to buy. You also want to know what the regular price of the items are so that you know you’re getting a good deal when you see it on sale.
Get deal alerts:
Once the deals begin, Amazon Prime Day homepage usually has categories of Lightning Deals you can click on to help you narrow your browsing to a specific category, like Electronics or Photography.
You can also click Watch This Deal on any products that Amazon gives you a preview of.
Another way to do it is to make a shopping list. That’s great if you’ve already narrowed your search to a specific product you want with all the features you want, because you can click right through if you see the item is on sale. However, remember that another model of the same item may be on sale, so decide ahead of time which product features are truly important to you, so that in the end, you’ll be happy with your purchase.
If you have the Amazon app, start searching for products. The app will suggest items you can get notifications about, so you’ll know when they go on sale.
Alternatively, you can sign up for third-party apps like Camel Camel Camel or Honey to get notified of price drops, but realize that they might not be able to keep up with lightning deals. (I don’t know for sure, since I didn’t have either of them last year on Prime Day.)
Use Coupons:
Amazon does offer coupons, and some of these provide significant savings, significantly more than your typical “30 cents off” coupon. But the coupons vary so much and are across so many of Amazon’s products, it’s impossible to give you just one example of how much you could save.
How do I get free credits on Amazon Prime Day?
Gift card with credit card approval
Not that I’m recommending it (because more credit cards = more trouble), but if you get approved for the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa you’ll get an instant Amazon gift card of up to $200. Think about it, though: if they can afford to give that much to everyone who gets approved, how much do they plan on earning from you? So proceed wisely – and don’t do it unless you were planning to get a new card anyway.
Earn 10% Back in Rewards:
Amazon Prime Store Card holders with an eligible Prime membership will also earn 10% back in rewards on select small business purchases.
My recommendation for getting these free credits for Amazon Prime Day is to buy something you were planning to buy anyway, and don’t get anything just because it’s on sale, because that’s not cheap! 🙂 However, you could really save some money if you’re sharp and shop carefully. (Viist the link above because the rewards may change)
“Prime Day” deals at other stores:
Amazon’s competitors have caught on to the fact that Prime Day brings out the shopper in many of us, and so they offer huge deals at their stores as well. You will most likely see corresponding deals at Walmart, Best Buy, Target, and others. At least thats what happened last year.
