I look forward to the Mark Arts Six by Six art sale in Wichita every year. I have a passion for original art but a limited budget, and this event lets me collect unique pieces at affordable prices. Over the years, I’ve been able to purchase works from some of my favorite local artists that I wouldn’t have been able to afford otherwise. A fun fact: I was the Education Director at Mark Arts for 9 years before I became “Wichita on the Cheap” lady.
The Six by Six fundraiser invites instructors, students, and community artists to participate in support of Mark Arts’ scholarship fund. Each participant will receive a 6 x 6-inch canvas generously provided by the Soroptimists of Wichita. Artists can use any media to create a one-of-a-kind piece, which will be featured in a special Gift Shop display at Mark Arts. Best of all, 100% of the proceeds will go toward the School of Creativity Scholarship Fund, helping make art education more accessible.
During the Six by Six sale, Mark Arts typically hosts its annual Art Market & Open House, a free event showcasing local and regional artists, designers, and makers. Visitors can shop for unique, one-of-a-kind pieces, including photographic prints, jewelry, ceramics, pottery, paintings, fiber arts, abstract works, and more.
