There’s Kansas State Treasurer’s Office currently returns between $14 Million and $16 Million in other unclaimed property each year. Yes, that’s just in Kansas and some of it may be yours. If you want to start from the beginning, go to the Kansas State Treasurer’s website and click on the “Search Now” link.
After you have entered your name and read the disclaimer, a list of names will appear. (Or it will show that nothing was found. Bummer!) If any of the claims match your address and description, you can add up to 30 properties into a virtual shopping cart.
At checkout, you will be asked to fill out a little more information such as your driver’s license number and email address. Depending on the type of claim, you may be able to fill out a paperless form or choose to have the state of Kansas mail paper forms to your address to fill out and return.
