Live the Good Life for Less & Never Miss a Deal

Kansas Reads to Preschoolers FREE program and concerts

The City  of Wichita released information about the Wichita Public Library “Kansas Reads to Preschoolers”. This is a program that helps young readers through early learning activities and sharing a common book. Libraries across the state will be participating this November.

The month-long program promotes reading to Kansas children birth to age five. This year’s selected book is Not a Box by Antoinette Portis. From mountain to rocket ship, a small, imaginative bunny shows that box is not always just a box but an object that will go as far as the imagination allows.

What does this Program Include?

  • Wichita Public Library will have a special Kansas Reads to Preschoolers Storytime Friday, November 18, 10:30 a.m. at the Rockwell Branch Library. Storytime’s the week of November 14-18 will also feature readings of the selected book.
  • Latin Grammy-winning music duo “123 Andres” will play two concerts on Saturday, November 12: 10:30 a.m. at the Alford Branch Library (3447 S. Meridian) and 2:30 p.m. at the Advanced Learning Library (711 W. 2nd St.). Their catchy songs and lively concerts get the whole family dancing while learning in English and Spanish. This free family concert focuses on ages 0-6.

 Reads to Preschoolers 20229

“Reading is an important component of early childhood development,” said Jaime Prothro, Director of Libraries.” Children gain empathy and a deep understanding about their world, and learn about people, places and events. It also helps caregivers and educators create trusting bonds with children.” – quote from the City of Wichita
