Free community event on the Arkansas River: Activate the Ark

Activate the Ark: A community event on the Arkansas River in downtown WichitaParticipants of a Wichita Community Foundation project will host a free public event on the west bank of the Arkansas River this summer.

Activate the Ark is designed to showcase the possible community uses of the river in Wichita by transforming it into an active, vibrant public space for the day.

At the event, they’ll have music, activities, food trucks and a cash bar. More details will be coming in the future but for now they have planned:

  • BIG FLOAT starting at Cowtown
  • Kayaking & Stand Up Paddleboarding
  • Food trucks on the river bank
  • DJ & Music
  • Cash bar & sunset social hour
  • Lights on the river at sunset

Activate the Ark will be held on June 23, 2018 on the west bank of the Arkansas River, directly across from Century II.

It’s an all-day event, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Parking will be available at the Lawrence-Dumont Stadium and at the church across the street. Taco Fest will happen that day as well at 3 p.m., so if you arrive later than that for Activate the Ark, you might (possibly) need to drive around for a bit to find a space!

To follow along with the details as they’re added, RSVP at the Facebook event page.
