One of my favorite free events in Wichita every summer and fall is back for 2019. Bring blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy the FREE Wichita Ballet in the Park again this year!
The Wichita Ballet will perform a re-imagined production of Cinderella at various parks in and around Wichita this summer and fall.
This is a wonderful experience and very family-friendly! The performances only last about 45 minutes and are usually followed by a meet and greet with company dancers.
You have several FREE Ballet in the Park performances from which to choose:
Fall Ballet in the Park performances
- Friday, September 6 at 6 p.m. at Wilson Park, 701 S. Summit Street in Ark City
- Sunday, September 8 at 1 p.m. at Maize City Park, 401 S. Khedive in Maize
- Sunday, September 8 at 6:30 p.m. at Sellers Park, 501 N. Harvey in Wellington
You’ll want to bring your blankets and lawn chairs (and costumes and tutus!), and arrive early to get a good spot. Food trucks may be on site for some Ballet in the Park performances.

More Ballet Wichita performances of Cinderella
In addition to the three free Ballet in the Park performances of Cinderella this fall, Ballet Wichita has three paid performances. One is in Concordia at the Brown Theater on September 7 at 7 p.m. (adults $15; students $8) and two will be held at the Crown Uptown theater here in Wichita.
The two performances at Crown Uptown are full-length ballets. It’s sure to be a great show with an updated twist. According to Ballet Wichita’s website:
Ballet Wichita’s production is re-imagined in 1920s Vienna, inside the “Glass Slipper Cafe.” Set to the music of Johann Strauss, Jr., Artistic Director’s Alex Ossadnik’s three-part fairy tale ballet is humorous, charming, and entertaining enough for audiences of all ages.
The performances will be held on September 14 at 7 p.m. and September 15 at 2 p.m. at Crown Uptown. Tickets are really reasonable starting at $15 to $25. Tickets can be purchased on the Crown Uptown website.
These Ballet in the Park performances were earlier this year.
