KPTS Channel 8 will have a special show on Thursday night, December 7 called Christmastime in Wichita. Here’s information from a press release about the show. Be sure to tune in – it’s free and it’s local, and it sounds like it will be fun!

“The Wichita area is an oasis of music, lights, shopping and good cheer during the holiday season. Christmastime in Wichita is a one-hour television event that showcases Wichita’s joy and reverence for this festive time of year. The special features Prairie Pines Christmas Tree Farm; top musicians like organist Brett Valliant and the Friends University Singing Quakers; local chefs; Victorian Christmas at the Old Cowtown Museum; Illuminations at Botanica; The Arc’s Lights; Wichita’s first Christmas; a trip down memory lane with Santa Claus and Toy Boy, and much more.

“It has been a joy to put together Christmastime in Wichita this year,” said Victor Hogstrom, KPTS President & CEO. “It is our gift to the community and we hope everyone enjoys this new special.”

Make plans now to watch Christmastime in Wichita this Thursday night, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. on KPTS-Channel 8 – your local public television station. This Christmas special highlights everything that makes Wichita unique at the holidays.

Christmastime in Wichita is made possible by Visit Wichita and Friends University Division of Fine Arts. This special will repeat on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 8:30 p.m. If you are interested in purchasing a DVD of the program, contact the station at (316) 838-3090.
