Sharing is caring!
Welcome Santa and enjoy fun activities for the whole family at the Andover Hometown Christmas celebration this December.
The event WILL be held in 2021! The Andover Hometown Christmas holiday event will be held at Central Park on Thursday, December 9 from 5:30-8 p.m.
“This is truly an event where the community benefits as we are asking attendees to bring canned or staple foods, new toys, or monetary donations… These donations will go to the Andover Food Bank and Caring and Sharing.”
Central Park will be transformed into a winter wonderland with luminaries lining the sidewalks, illuminated trees, and activities for everyone.
Additional activities will take place at City Hall, The Lodge, the Andover Public Library, and Capitol Federal Amphitheater.
Andover Hometown Christmas Activities
Here’s the description of the event from the City of Andover KS website here.
“The evening begins at 5:30 pm with the arrival of Santa Claus. Afterward, you can choose from a variety of activities. Our usual Chili cook-off will not be happening this year. However, we will be having a Reindeer Chow station where you can come make your own reindeer chow. We’ll have a short Christmas-themed movie playing in the Lodge as well. The Andover Public Library will be hosting children’s activities including cookie decorating and a Christmas craft, both of which are always a big hit! City Hall will have live music and, of course, Santa will be there to hear Christmas wishes and take pictures. Hot beverages will be available in all three buildings.”
“If you are looking for something to do outdoors, you can make S’mores around a fire pit with Andover first responders, the little ones can ride the barrel train, and everyone can enjoy a horse-drawn wagon ride around Central Park.”
“While you are at the park, you must also take a minute to enjoy the amazing light show coordinated to music at the Capitol Federal Amphitheater® and other areas of the park.”
“The Hometown Christmas event is not only fun for families but also benefits the entire community. Attendees of Hometown Christmas are encouraged to donate new toys, canned goods and cash to benefit the local Caring and Sharing 501c program and the Andover Food Bank.”
How much does Hometown Christmas cost?
Admission to Andover Hometown Christmas is FREE, but a donation of canned/staple food items, new toys, or money are requested, which will be distributed to deserving Andover families through the local Caring & Sharing program and the Andover Food Bank.
