Age of the Gunfighter at Cowtown Museum

Sharing is caring!

This is your ticket back to the Old West in Wichita! Lawmen and outlaws are coming to Old Cowtown Museum this season for the exciting “Age of the Gunfighter” event.
Featuring gunfighters and Old West legends, this should be a great time to go visit the Old Cowtown Museum.

The best gun-fighting re-enactors from the region will perform at this Cowtown special event. See who’s the fastest – or the most authentic – draw in the west.

Besides the gunfighting, they’ll have other historical character re-enactments taking place all day throughout Cowtown.

And remember – Age of the Gunfighter on Saturday and Sunday is free for Cowtown members!

Note: Because of this special event, admission to Cowtown is not free on this particular Sunday.

Other entertainment throughout the Age of the Gunfighter event includes:

  • Merchants
  • Historical campsites
  • Chuckwagon demos
  • Old time medicine show
  • Dancing saloon girls
  • Snacks, hot dogs and sarsaparilla in the Saloon
  • Longhorn cattle and stories of the Chisholm Trail
  • Quick-draw contest
  • and more

Age of the Gunfighter celebrates the mythic Wild West that was described on the pages of the most popular entertainment of the time – the dime novel. Dime novels depicted an era populated with dance hall girls and proper Victorian women as well as outlaws and lawmen who followed the code of the West and settled disputes with gunfights.

Regular admission of $9 for adults, $8 seniors (62+), $7 youth (12-17) and $6 for kids (5-11) applies. Children under 4 and museum members get in free.
